by apurva on Sep 05, 2005 02:31 PM

Hats of to Nagesh kukunoor. Ten stars to his high class stuff offered to Indian cinema.Full marks to Nagesh and pls Subhash ghai do not leap forward to take the credit as it soley belongs to Nagesh kukunoor.

As of for the movie it is the most inspirational movie in the recent times. The performances are brilliant. Naseerudin shah is class apart. Iqbal and shweta are too good very natural. Girish karnad is too good. The movie is loaded with pure human emotions It teaches you a lot how to be positive in achieving your goals, hardwork, hope and support.

A story told in a simplestic manner.

From Hydrebad blues to teen dewarien all his films are brilliant and simple.

Thanks Nagesh for brilliant cinema. Keep it up all the good work.

Viewers pls go and watch Iqbal with your entire family.

Kolipad Express at its best
by Deepak Rajgor on Sep 01, 2005 09:20 PM

Gr8 movie. In age of special effects, its refreshing to watch Nagesh Kukoonor's Iqbal. Amazing Actors, great background music and a complete class moviemaking. I was wondering why M.F.Hussain liked it, but when I saw this movie I was clean bowled and the hangover did not die hence had to watch it twice. Nagesh has arrived finally and this time he did not make any appearance.

I think Indian cinema needs GOOD movies like iqbal, no matter they wont be hits, but i rate Iqbal better then black. It took me 20 years to understand Naseeruddin Shah's acting. Girish Kannad is great, Prateeksha steals the show with smiles and tears, Talwade stands out and the best scene is between Iqbal father and mother just before she leaves for Ranji trophy game.

Please make this kind of films more...Credit goes to Nagesh and yes Mr.Subash Ghai. I think slowly and steadily we are getting some good cinema. Keep it up!!!

Great Film!
by Nikhil on Sep 01, 2005 02:59 AM

Iqbal is a fantastic movie to watch for the following reasons:

- Superb performances from all the actors
- A simple storyline which has been treated very realistically
- A good mixture of humour and drama which prevents the film from becoming too heavy
- A lovely song called 'Aashayen' playing at various points in the movie as per the mood (Yes, no song and dance sequences)
- A film which doesn't harp too much on Iqbal being deaf-and-dumb resulting in the audience believing that this handicap should in no way stop him from achieving his dreams
- Lastly, a story of a strrugler trying to break through to india's cricket team is good cinema!

P.S. This is for the spat that was going on between Chetna and Gyan. Guys, this is just a forum to air our views on movies and not a crash course on how to write movie reviews and in case there is criticism then please learn to accept it constructively, i guess that's what every writer should learn.

Nothing wrong with the review
by Vishal on Aug 30, 2005 05:29 PM

This review is fairly good, descriptive and does list out the plus points of this movie. Nowadays, it has become some sort of a fad for ppl to criticize reviews and the way they are written. Guys, have you ever tried sending letters to Times of India for their terrible Sunday times movie reviews? Review is one person's point of view. If you do not agree with it, say so. Just because you have the liberty to share your comments in this portal you cant call other's reviews bad. There is absolutely no logic in it.

Just not cricket
by Ulhas Shirke on Aug 29, 2005 07:54 PM

Congratulations! Mr. Nagesh Kukunoor for directing such a remarkable film based on the topic of cricket. "It is just not cricket; but, something beyond cricket that our filmlovers haven't witnessed so far. The hero and all the characters look so natural. Even the bowling actions of the strggling cricketer in close and long shot look realistc. the boy must have played cricket at competitive level. And, the best part of his character has been the emotions as he plays a physically challenged youing boy with dreams in his eyes. Ably supported by stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, an actor par excellence. Shweta Prasad who plays his sister has also done well. The film has other talented Film and Tv artistes like Girish Karnad, Nitin karyekar, Pratiksha Lonkar without whose support the film would have been incomplete. the guest appearance of Kapil Dev would certainly raise the morale of many struggling cricketers as it is at his entry the boy achieves what he had been looking for; a chance into Indian team. The film is exceptionally well made film and would bring in the desired change in taste of many film lovers.

Bad review, good movie.
by Viraj on Aug 29, 2005 11:35 AM

As far as the movie is concerned, its not not bad at all. In fact, it borders on the pretty good. Decent script, well threshed out characters, excellent casting and good performances all around. All in all, a multiplex-ticket-price well spent.

What bugs me is this review. Since when does a narration of the story with about 4 adjectives thrown in constitues a review? Far be it from me to question what the reviwer thinks OF the movie. But the WHY, has to be answered. At best, an adequete review. At worst, imcompetent.
