I think, Rediff is neglecting kannada film land, which is right now stands No.1 in the entire India as per the Return on investment.
More than 40% of the Kannada films released this year, have made profits while other industries are hammered by one flop after another. None of the regional film industries this year have a success ratio of more than 10% while Kannada industry is maintaining a healthy success rate of 40%..
The movie of the millenium Kannada film JOGI released last week has made 4.5 crores in the first week of its release and it has broken all the previous kannada box office records.
While the Hindi film Mangal Pandey could make only 19 crores with 1000 prints, our blockbuster kannada film JOGI made a whopping 4.5 crores out of 72 prints.
Kannada film saw the most number of blockbusters this year as compared to all other Indian film industries.
Rediff should cover kannada movies more frequently.

we are indians first and people of different states later.if u like or love ur mother tongue that doesnt mean that one should hate other languages.So learn to respect other languages too.and only that you cant understand kannada you (mr. srijit) cant say "dont compare kannada with tamil".May be bcoz of ppl like you india is in such a condition.Kannada Film Industry is in boom now and producing lot of good movies.Rediff should start covering good kannada movies.

Raj: Are you in India ? Kannada films are alaways the best, Kannada films lag only in marketing,otherwise so called best film industry Hindi,Telugu Tamil have fame because of hype.
Not now Kannada film Industry is the best, it is notmy words,Satyjeet Ray the great Indain film maker felt like.

Keep watching Great Kannada Movies, the best made movies in India.
Again example rediff being biased towards Malayalam and Tamil. Last week kannada film JOGI got released and it was most expected film in South and it has recieved such a tremendous opening all over. But rediff nevet bothers to write about this at all ?

y guys ..... kannada movies r not bad as u guys think..
remember last year kannada actress TARA won best actress national award for her kannada film "Haseena", it also won best film in family welfare category & his director Girish Kasravalli has won 4 presidents Swarna kamal award. he is the only succesor to Satyajith Ray(won 5) in winning most Swarna kamal award..
At national level, kannada films have won more best film award after Bengali... it's true search in google for confirmation.
Good & bad movies have come in all the languages ... just to tell tamil/malayalam don't condemm other lang films ..... A veteran mallu director Aadoor gopalkrishnan listed 2-3 kannada films in INDIA'S BEST film article started by REDIFF .... in the same article MOhanlal said good movies r made in bengali,kannada & malayalam.
Even kannada films r remade in other languages like tamil,telugu,malayalam & hindi with big stars like shivaji,Big B,Rajni,Chiranjeevi etc.. if u want the list i can give u .... but list is much long But still i can give u.
Chnage ur mentality first.Never underestimate any one.

That is ur igmnorance Mr Raj. Kannada film industry bagged 3 national awards this time for best actoress(tara),best family welfare film,best costumes(Bhanu Mustaq) all for film Haseena. Please open ur eyes and see the world!
