Nandita Das is not mature enough to look at life with a kindly contemplation of people and things and events and therefore unfit for any jury position anywhere. Rajeswara Rao
The article mentioning Nandita Das on the Cannes jury (yet another actress unworthy of the honour after the PR gimmick and disastrous choice of the completely unworthy Aishwarya "nonactress" Rai last year) had a glaring error!
Aishwarya Rai wasn't the first (and so Nandita isn't the second) Indian actress to be on the jury. Shabana Azmi too was on the Cannes jury as was Meera Nair and Mrinal Sen.
Wonder who from India is feeding the Cannes guys with the crap talent now that represents India in France rather than the talent that really deserves to go ?
the international events are increasingly concentrating on india with an eye for its vast and potential consumer market.you will see no indian partcipiants were being selected at the miss world or miss universe contests.now suddenly the world has found there are more beauties in india.this is the handiwork of multinational companies to promote thier business and inviting to the cannes as jury or as a guest is a part of it.the more controversial you are in a country the more popular you will be outside the country.and we know the likes of Nanditha or shabhana azmi and company are ready to sell what india dosent stands for.cannes is big not for indian cenima.so be it
Wonderful! Isn't it? to have Nandita at the Jury in Cannes. I always admired her acting. I had a special love to see her again and again in Mani's tamil "Kannathil Mutthamittal" I live in France and Nandita makes me feel extremely proud. She is not just beautiful but also a versatile actress. Bravo Nandi! I wish you the very very best in your Cannes endeavour. John-Noel
