huh?

I couldnt seem to not notice the fact that Amitabh is called a mediocre actor today? Dude, just because he's older now, and has to pick movies that suit his age, it duz not turn him into a mediocre actor. He still acts the way he always did. I've got some examples for the author of this message, Baghban, Black, Aks, Aankhein, Waqt!..oh Khakee, Ek Rishta, K3g (even tho it was a shahrukh movie).
Yeah the Amitabh we all know of, and grew up watching has become old now...but his acting still outclasses everyone and can never be levelled by any other actor. Thank you

Narasimha Ganti
I am with Sriram on this

I too have been watching some Bond reruns, amazed by the absurdities (yes, imagine Sean Connery trying to pass off as a Jap), and every now and then I see Sholay, just to enjoy a good movie. And to talk of ridiculous situations, the western press and then some psuedo-intellectuals in India would deride AB movies (things like the hero beating up 20 people with his bare hands). Yet, when I saw Kill Bill Vol1 recently, I thought to myself, and it is perfectly normal for 1 sword wielding woman to cut down 50-100 sword wielding baddies simultaneously - that to me is more than ridiculous.

Shaan

Shaan was a "piece if xxit" compared espcially to "Sholay" which was the product of the same banner and team. It was absolutely unbelievable that the same team can churn out such a bore. It is futile to find any positives is Shaan. On the contrary, one wonders if it was a stroke of luck that created "Sholay" - it was an inspired piece that happens only once in a while. It would be worthwhile to ask Mr. Javed Akhtar's opinion on the same - he has consistently offered excellent screenplays except in a few cases - where he either did not have a free hand or had himself to blame. I am sure, he would have liked to forget Shaan as soon as possible.

Jaideep
He was just 2 good
by Jaideep on Apr 28, 2005 10:42 AM

I think the young Bachchan was the best thing that happened to Indian movies. He was incredibly charismatic. Nobody and i repeat nobody can even come close. He could make the most ridiculous movies look like classics. Today's generation can learn a lot about effortless performance simply by watching his movies from the 70's and 80's! Sorry buddy. Abhishek is not a patch. He was awesome. Even today, he stands tall. But those days were something else. Deewar. Kaala Pathar. Muquaddar ka Sikandar. He was swell. Wish we could have cloned him then.

Good story but with a few flaws
by S. V. Sriram on Apr 27, 2005 03:43 PM

I agree with the writer when he says that this campy 70s Bond-style flick just doesn't pass muster now. But having just over the past few days seen Bond movies like You ONly Live Twice, Man With Golden Gun and Russia with Love, let me say that the clone is far better than the originals. I mean the above movies and the premises are so incongrous. Bond even passes off as a Jap in one of them for crying out loud. And all those chase sequences superimposed with make the Mazhar Khan song look quite slick. And come on, Bond gets all those girls by just looking at them, fights off all those samurai-kung fu chaps and doesn't even have a ut lip to show for it.
Please give me Bollywood any time, specially with its RD numbers and sizzlers like Praveen Babi, Zeenat Aman and Helen any day.
