direction disappoints..
by gr.siva on Apr 19, 2005 02:53 PM

chandramukhi's the direction and screenplay could have been much better than this. the matrix style stunts, dialogues extolling rajni should have been avoided.. it seems the heroine, who is the backbone of story was suppressed for the sake of giving rajni more scenes... the characters in the movie are quite fresh even at night 12'0 clock as if they have just taken a shower and finished make up ... having watched movies like kadhal and 7 g rainbow colony, i feel chandramukhi more cinematic than realistic.. p.vasu should could have presented the stuff much better...
the story was the hero in manichittira thazu, whereas rajni is the undoubted hero in chandramukhi...

saw the movie chandramukhi. Its such an awful and hopeless remake of the one of the best classic movies evermade-manichithrathazhu!! and for all those who wrongly think the original movie is the kannada version, sorry , thats nothing compared to the malayalam version starring mohanlal, shobhana, sureshgopi. The performances of the artists in chandramukhi including rajnkanth is terrible. Its obvious jyothika has tried all ways to act like shobhana, but has failed drastically in her attempt and she acts like one of those street drama actors.
Please , all those who praise chandramukhi, please watch manichithrathazhu which even after 12 years of its release still holds the true movie lovers back! I dont have the count of the no of times ive seen this movie. SEE real performances by mohanlal and shobhana !!

dear deepak,
For your kind information, Orginal version is not even from kannada. I think u even dont know abt it. orginal version of the movie is from malayalam and the movie name is "Manichitra thazhu" released in 1993 december who were acted by mohanlal, suresh gopi and shobaba. Even shobana got the national award for best actress of that year that made her URVASHI shobana. So dont misunderstand that chandramukhi's orginal version is from kannada.
For your information there is even one trial is going on at court regarding the rights of the story against chandramuki by the writer of manichitra thazhu, madu muttam, . Thats all now.
regards,
jahesh

Dear Deepak,
Credit for aaptamitra and chandramukhi goes to Madhu muttam and Fazil and the performances by Vishnuvardhan and Rajnikanth cannot be even compared to Mohanlals. He makes it explicit how to play such an intense role with ease and relaxed way. And for Jyothika it is better not to be mentioned. In short the both the remakes deserve only one word. AWFUL

No credit to the original storywriter/director

Chandramukhi is a remake of the path-breaking malayalam superhit movie "manichitrathaazhu", but strange that there seems to be no mention of all this. Also, jyothika's performance is comical-compared to the award-winning performance in the original by shobana. I defintiely do not find it award-winning, unless there's an award for funniest performance

Chandramukhi is a remake.
by Rajesh on Apr 18, 2005 12:25 PM

Chandramukhi is a remake of the hugely successful and Award winning Malayalam movie, Manichitrathazhu and I think you should have mentioned it in your review. As for the remake itself, it comes no where near the original and Rajikant can never replace Mohanlal(who played his role) and Jyothika can never replace Shobana, who won the National Award for the role.

it is good to see rajini in diffrent character after a
long gap without any cinematic jimmicks ,supported by very good story line, giving due importance to all
characters,it seems he has began to change his track in films.i expect from him in future more rolls which
are remaining dormant in his mind.all the best to him

Rajnikanth proved again that he is the one and only superstar in TamilNadu..In the same time we have to appreciate Jyothika for her extra-ordinary performance.Every artist in the movie contributed their ability to make Chandramukhi a big hit.Hats off to Vadivelu and congrats Mr.P.Vasu.

Dear Dhanashekha,
Dont waste ur time on praising a stupid performances from Rajnikanth and Jyothika in a damn crap remake of the classic manichitrathazhu. If u wanna enjoy the real class performances then watch the real malayalam movie. Chandramukhi made us laugh for the foolishness shown and at the same time we were pity for a superstar and jyothika for proving they yet are not capable for intense roles.
