The Verdict is In
by Nazir Patel on Oct 18, 2004 08:10 PM

The fact that Veer Zaara's soundtrack is a huge success has to do with the nightingale's voice combined with some of the best talent of this generation. Critics have a very narrow minded view.
Lata Mangeshkar's voice in Veer Zaara is divine.

how could you think this movie was superb?? It was the same old story line as all his other movies. How does an Indian ex-armed forces officer get into Pakistan so easily? How stupid is the lawyer who expects to win the case without any hard proof? She doesn't even know where Zara is and what kind of idiot goes to find parents who would be around 80 yrs old?

How could Lata reproduce the quality of LAG JA GALE?
by Vivek on Oct 06, 2004 03:25 PM

"All the male singers have done a commendable job but Lata Mangeshkar disappoints. If you compare her voice now to some of her earlier songs like Naina barse of Woh Kaun Thi, you will be disappointed."

This is what you have written! How can you make such a comparison? Could you ever get that quality even if it is Lata HERSELF? THAT LATA IS NO MORE!

No one can revive the golden era simply by unbundling unused tunes of Madan Mohan or any stalwart for that matter.

On the Veer Zaara Review
by Deepak Jeswal on Oct 05, 2004 03:17 PM

Dont you think the reviewer has displayed his absolute stupidity in comparing Lata at 75 with the Lata of Naina barse rimjhim when she was so young!!!! A better comment wud hv been that Lata at 75 is much much better than the singers of today. Lata delights in veer zaara. And this album is the stuff what classics are made of!

Veer Zaara Music Review
by Nazir Patel on Sep 27, 2004 08:35 PM  | Hide replies

Lata Mangeshkar sounds better
at 75 than all younger singers.
Her voice in Do Pal touched my
heart and made me cry. Lata critics be damned.
The bonus song Tum Paas Aa Rahe Ho" although good would be too slow for film inclusion. However Lataji's solo "Jaane Kyon is a gem that should be filmed on Hema Malini.
I would have liked to hear more of Lata's voice in the movie but
then this is a movie with lead SRK on whom there would be greater focus. Lataji has given her best in this album and I wish her a very Happy 75th birthday. Hers is a voice that still touches the heart. I had to just listen to the songs once to instantly fall in love. Paisa Vasul. Worth every cent. The songs of Veer Zaara should remain on top of all music charts.
Every music lover should buy this album. I know that with Yashji's direction the songs will become even more enjoyable after the movie's release. My feeling is that Tere Liye may well have been filmed on Amitabh and Hema at the start of the movie. This is the movie I am waiting to see.

A number of different singers combined (Sonu, Udit, Roop Singh...) cannot fill in (or even come close to) for Rafi saab who would possibly have sung all the male songs had the film been made in the 60's..

So pls don't compare the music with those of the Madan mohan classics of the 60's...
