I really like the movie..hats off to Mira for directing a wonderfully engrossing and classical movie. through her movie she has added further value to W.M.Thackeray's classic.Certainly hope that the movie wins a few Oscars for acting, costumes and screenplay adaptation. particularly liked the fine performances of Reese Witherspoon (Becky Sharp) and Eileen Hopkins (Aunt Matilda).

So good was the movie that one really felt that one had gone back into the pre-Victorian Britain of the 1820s-30s, an age of empire-building and chivalry. Mira's movie provides a wonderful insight into the highly stratified British society of that age, and beautifully portrays the continuous efforts of the protagonist to uplift herself and her husband into becoming a member of the ruling elite of that society.Above all there is a powerful story that is depicted lucidly...in itself a rarity in today's cinema. Strongly recommend for the connossieurs of cinema..those that believe in watching movies that combine both class and substance !

Undoubtedly 'Vanity Fair' is one of the best movies of the year !
