Ramu's lost it

Just when I thought I had seen the most banal, mentally regressive and outright ludicrous flick called 'Gayab', Varma corp dishes out yet another mind numbing, nausea inducing, load of crap that goes by the name "Vaastu Shastra". Excessive make up, not even a whisper of a storyline & a family of spooks who it seems must have a reunion every night wherein they enter the main hall of the extravagant mansion and stare each other down, before staring at all the family members & returning to their rather humble abode, a dying tree to be precise. But the best is yet to come. Towards the end spooks spring up like mushrooms in the monsoon, terrible make up, beatific expressions et al. Down goes a character up comes the spook. Great stuff!! And it seems these picteresque wannabes have been around for long, according to madman Rajpal Yadav who chats up with them on a daily basis keeping track of all of them, which somehow seems to have affected his communication skills. The only noteworthy scene is where Rads hangs from the tree minus the bed sheet but even then the film refuses to deliver(or show)the goods. Whats the point anyways??

RGV never lost any time. Can u get me any director from bollywood who has got such a good edge of mind. Ramu has given varities like Shiva, Satya, Company, , Raat, Jungle, Rangeela, Bhoot, Kaun & Daud u cant make point that is same in every movie every movie has got a great subject and the presentation is best. he gives all the matching pairs to the movie.

If you feel so that RGV has lost then u better watch the movies of the third class Z graded bollywood directors. With a script of A Boyfriend & Girlfriend their love and villa as the girls bap and at last geting married and living a happy life with raction card.

Bye Bye

The film was mostly comic in the first half but gripping in the second half. However, at times, there was unnecessary suspense and too many sound effects. Moreover, what really saddened me was that there was no story. No reason. No explanation. It was just a couple of scares.

Does it happen in real life too?
by Raj on Oct 24, 2004 12:30 AM

I really don't what was it, but it happened to me a couple of times. i am sleeping, i realize that some one seating on chair right next to my head, i scream as i see him smiling soundlessly, and then i find no one around. the movie reminds me of the same kind of face i see in my single room on terrace, in a retired army colony. now i will have sleep with lights on as i just saw the movie..

lets not make fool of ourselves

Whenever I feel like watching a good horror movie, I endup watching a montage of all english horror movies. in a way our indian film makers repeatedly prove that we can never make any horror movie which is original and at the same time very scary.
How long do we go on being beggers borrowing ideas all the time from the west? Its a bit disappointing.
This movie starts off very good and gets worse in the very beginning of the movie.
This particular movie is no way as good as Bhoot as they said for publicity. On top of that it lacks subtility in approach of making a horror movie.

huge disappointment!
by piyush on Oct 23, 2004 11:50 PM

went for the premier show along with 5 more frds... i must say , it was a pathetic evening , atleast as far as movie was concerned....

wasnt scary at all, too slow and unrealistic... ghosts were looking more like people who were powered on their face with specs covering their eyes!

sushmita has a huge potential, but this movie couldnt tap her properly!

kid was cute... but thts it ! no other part worth watching.. some illogical scenes... like every ghost used to come in an appearance which was there whn they die, however the mausi "radhika" ( VJ Piya) got killed naked but her ghost was wearing a sexy red dress!

dont know why rediff is giving such rare reviews on it! thts one movie i can bet u ppl not to see!

choice is yours!

Piyush

Its Ramgopal so its classy (copying ) if a Bhatt does it ?
by sumbul on Oct 23, 2004 10:39 PM

Its a RamGopal movie so its fine . He can copy Excorcist , The Shining , Sixth Sense no problems .The media turns ablind eye .If a Vikram Bhatt or David Dhavan does it the sky falls .

Lets see if you people find the upcoming softporn Naach good too after all you all ripped Murder and Julie .

You all are hypocrites and have double standards

a well made movie
by Sridhar on Oct 23, 2004 07:34 PM

Its scarier than BHOOT.The crisp editing and screenplay along with superior cinematography makes this flick a visual delight.

Edge of the seat entertainer and surely a quality product offered by FACTORY.Highly recommeded for those who love horror movies.

by biyat on Oct 23, 2004 07:17 PM

Now a days from last lot of months not a single movie which is watchable in the movie halls. Bolliwood is still thr due to some intelligent, innovative and new-thing-showing directors like Ramu and his men.

That was THE best hindi horror movie definitely.
Sure....the story was weak and the sound fx a bit overdone...but still it scared the hell outta me.

AS u said, all the little sounds that we normally ignore started sending shivers down my spine.
