Doesnt kill you at all!

Rediff's reviewer is too generous to Sourabh Narang's directorial debut.A horror movie has achieved its purpose if it scares you enough even if its not logical or doesnt have a great script. Sadly,Vastu Shastra doesnt completely achieve even this aim.

While spooky in parts, the whole movie is an eternal build up without actually delivering the shivers.

Rohan's encounters with the strangers sharing his house whom only he seems to see start off the movie eerily enough..but the yawns begin when nothing different happens even in the half hour post interval. Funnily, this is one movie where the ghosts being revealed to the viewer is anticlimatic rather than chilling. Then the tacky, abrupt ending-more violent than scary.

The pluses are some angles of the story-like the servant maid one and the performance of young Ahsas Channa.

The comparisons to "Bhoot" are inevitable. But not only is Bhoot definitely scarier and infinitely more interesting its also an example of what separates the men from the boys-the Ramus from the Sourab Narangs.

Like other offerings from Ramu's "Factory" this one shows potential in parts but falls short of being great.

Stricly average.

Coming of a Senseless Cinema
by Vishal on Oct 24, 2004 11:15 AM

How one could define scaring audience is the sole objective of making a this movie.
I would say this a era of senseless cinema.Fatory products are getting more more pathetic. Earlier it was gayb and now Vastu Shastra. Its seems directors are more concerned about making a technically sound film.
However audience want somthing more. In end when I saw a highly hopeless end in Vastu Shstra,I even regretted why I got scared earlier at all. These seems no logic behind making u sacred. It would be better make some amusement park where people will come and get scared with such scenes.

Boring!!!!!!!!!

I think they used the same ghost female that was in Bhooth. Well, what does this movie have for us hmmmmmmmmm irritating sound effects, scene duplication from other classic horror movies, and of course, no story. The ending was a big disaster.
This movie could've been made much better.

No big deal
by Dr T S Raman on Oct 24, 2004 08:36 AM

Nothing great about sleeping with lights on! When I was a graduate student, one of the teachers was so boring that I learnt to sleep not only with the lights on (apart from the bright daylight) but also with my eyes open!
