meaningless and routine stuff
by sreedhar b on Oct 25, 2004 09:28 AM

What is that Mr Ram Gopal Varma really hoped to achieve by making this really meangingless and routine horror movie. Several things are left unexplained in the movie
1. What is the significance of the tree.
2. What is the story of the dead people living on the tree.
3. What is the role of the mad man (Rajpal Yadav)

Sound effects do not make a good horror movie. There should be some reason and justification behind such movies.

Hope Mr RGV remembers this next time he decides to make a horror movie

Factory Scrap!!

Vaastu Shastra is not scary by half. The little kid does a great job. Sushmita does not have much to do. Rajpal Yadav is wasted. Chakravarty does a bad job. The plot is sad, not scary beyond the first 45 mts and ends in a whimper. The end is decidedly hilarious, with all possible cliche's thrown in. The sound editing is very exagerrated and in a Hyd cinema house I heard stuff like 'bakwaas' in reaction to the sound effects.
I also saw disappointment writ large on the faces of people as they came out, largely because of the Ramsay meets Dawn of the Dead kind of ending.
On the whole, this Ram Gopal Varma produced, Factory Product is Factory Scrap!

The Small Boy is amazing
by Riddhesh on Oct 25, 2004 07:22 AM

The Movie is not that scary. It will jolt the audience but not because of the scene but becasue of the sound effect. the sound effect adds more to the horror. But one best thing in the movie is the small boy. A 4 year old kid has done an amazing job, the simplicity and the boldness with which this guy has acted is fantastic. hey really deserves it.

review of vaastu shastra
by Ashish on Oct 25, 2004 03:31 AM

After watching movie, i can say there is nothing to get scared. It looks more like a commedy movie than a horror one. 'Bhoot" appear more like an old cartoons with white powder applied liberally. Sushmita sen and the young boy have done great job.
