Now sikhs in India and all over the world that still non-sikhs in india look upon them as part of Indian nationand culture. It took 20 years for someone to recognise what sikhs suffurred as an aftermath of Mrs.Gandhi's assasination.
Better late than never. Finally my heartiest congratulations to Mr.Sashi Kumar on this bold and daring attempt.
with regards

Its really great to have a film made on 1984 riots as i feel most of us do not have the actual picture & terror which people have undergone.
i wonder why it took so time for my countrymen to make such a film
i would like to congrajulate the Director Producer & everybody who contributed for this film

Good effort

Sikhs have on almost all occasion stood for the nation & maximum sacrifise given in freedom fight are from them, inspite of this fact many people can not have courage to accept this fact. Such people are the faces behind 1984 riots. This is a good effort but is it not pity that even after 20 years justice is not given to the victims & culprits are not punished.

1984 riots

The question as to why a film was not made on `84 riots or even a documemtary so far is thought provoking. I feel that most of the indians at that time were really sick of the `Khalistan movement` and loosely associated every sikh with this `movement`. There were no visible-vocal movement from the sikhs staying out of punjab to counter the khalistanis which gave credence to the misbelief that every sikh is in favour of or an active sympathiser of `khalistan`. Further, during `operation blue star` many indian soldiers lives were lost to the fighting militants who were cent percent sikhs, this had already created an general feeling of animosity of every non-sikh indian towards all sikhs, hence very few people thought of the 1984 riots as a genocide and majority of the indians saw it as a punishment to the pro-khalistanis for murdering Mrs Indira Gandhi who had rescued india from another partition by launching operation blue star. Although it is a different question that majority of the sikhs were against the very idea of dividing india be it for `khalistan` or for any other sthan. The `84 riots or any other carnage before or after just goes to show that we are yet to be civilised.

My heart goes out for sikhs who suffered during riots,i belong to south community but looking from outside I feel sikhs are probably the most tolerant ,helpfuland hardworking community in north.
