Raja Sen...who Raja Sen???
by Tanu on Nov 29, 2004 02:18 PM  | Hide replies

The movie is a delight to watch. Yeah the last one hour is very boring but it still is much better as compare to Veer Zaara. Raja sen should try to write a review rather then exhibiting his command on english vocabulary and sentence making. His review do not make any sense at all. After i read his review i was still clueless what he want to write about. All he did is putting some great english words in one sentence that does not make any sense at the end.

You say the last one hour is boring. So that leaves very little. Anyways Veer Zaara is a far better movie than Hulchul. Yes Hulchul provides lots of laughs but is at best a made for video movie and not for theatrical release. And the songs you can skip but have to bear in a theater.

come on Raja... did you really watch hulchul.... looks like from some where the reviewer got the plot and cast of the film and he wrote the review...
Guys every one had forgotten priyan's first hindi movie.. its not virasat. It was MUSKURAHAT, the hindi version of KILUKKAM directed by priyan himself in malayalam.

i feel you are being too harsh with hulchul.its possible you didn't understand the film, well i wont take pains explaining it to you as the first half of the film moved really fast.i saw the film too and understood the comedy and laughed almost throughout the film.i agree there were parts that were too dramatic and the songs were uneccesary but don't say the script was weak.by all means it wasn't slapstick at all..the humour was in the dialogues and in the situation.contrary to your opinion i find that akshaye khanna did very well in this film, the transition from comedy to drama was super.paresh rawal makes us laugh too..especially in the scenes of confrontation with his father and in the climax.i am not surprised you didn't like the film..the language used can't be deciphered by everyone!

What a horrible review!!!
by review hater on Nov 29, 2004 10:14 AM

The movie was not a classic..but it was definitely time-pass and interesting. The saddist reviewer uses some fancy metaphors to convey his knowledge (or the lack of it) about comedy films, instead of reviewing the film at hand. Totally irritating review! Raja ji, find a new job please!

For the reviewer of Hulchul.

Raja Sen,
Filling the column with all the heavy words from English dictionary wont make a review readable. Please try to think from the point of the majority, then only you can be a successfull reviewer.

I found the moview very much watchable. It ensures you some good humour through out the 2 hours. Arshad Warsi has done fantastically.

There is bit of over-acting, can you name another Hindi movie where there is no over-acting? Thats bollywood man.. We all enjoy that.

Not that bad, pal, not that bad. It gave me quite a few good laughs although it was overdone in parts.
The script could have been much better. But only the likes of Priyadarshan can make such a non-sensical script so hilarious.
Akshaye is a brilliant actor and kareena not one. Proved again.
Could have been much better.

Mr Reviewer.. pls note...
by Bijoy on Nov 29, 2004 12:20 AM

Hi,
The person who made this review seems to hate filmmakers from the south. Why else did he criticize Priyadarshan & Mani Ratnam. Audience, please dont believe only such kind of reviews.. Do understand that filmmakers from the North also make waste films like BOOM and create a bad image for good actors like Amitabhji. Priyadarshan & Mani Ratnam are much better than them.. Just take few examples of films like Virasat and Roja. Hulchul might not be a good film (for the reviewer) , but definitely it'll not be as worse as some of the movies made by filmmakers from the north.

Note: In future, pls allow people who are neutral and fair towards movies, to make such reviews..

Thank you.

I do not agree!!

This review of yours on Hulchul as far as I think is a feedback of one person. For persons like me it was a welcome break seeing this movie, who have their 20 out of 24 hours just thinking about what the next line of code to be put down there. For me this movie was not at all a benchmark to evaluate how the director faired in his job but surely he deserves some accolade for making our 3 hours filled with laughter. I will appreciate if Raja Sen could at least represent the view of people rather than his self (no hash feelings). At least in an era when one cannot see a lot of movies with your family...surely I can bet that you can enjoy a joy full evening with your dear ones without the fear of being getting embarrassed.
