Looks like,,, errr why look like , it is a shoddy typecast of Black Hawk down- No man left behind. I agree with the reviewer that why was it made in the first place. Why in the right mind was Amrita arora dancing in the rain in Pakistan???
God save bollywood fils

Isn't this story familiar
by Prashanth HN on May 17, 2005 06:26 AM

Doesn't the story line remind you of "Great Escape", the historically accurate movie! In which a big group of captured allies try to escape from the German POW camp and then try to flee from German captured Europe through boats, trains, bikes and what not.

Full of blemishes...
by Vinod Chawda on Jul 14, 2004 01:02 PM

Reaaly, Deewar is the worst of the movies of the recent times. A great starcast simply wasted. Apart from few good shots by BigB, the complete film is a mess of money.

Hundreds of flaws in the movie, some of them-
1. The villain (I think his name is KK) is shown as lame in the complete movie except last few minutes. In climax he runs and chases the Bigb Gang. Suppose the director must have forgotten that the character is 'langda', but the actor must have remembered that.

2. BigB, in jail, usually sees his child of age around 7-8 running around in a desert. After 33 years of his imprisonment, his son should have been aged around 40. But Akshay's character, looks around 25-30 years of age.

And I can list hundreds more such blemishes in the film. After watching the film, I understood the reason of why there were only around 10-15 people in the cinema hall.

nice review for an outright illogical film !
by jam on Jul 13, 2004 03:08 AM

good observations by the reviewer. even i felt it is really wasted plot, the director could have given a very good and realistic look to the plot. deewar is director milan luthra's failure. btw, some critics which write about the reviewer use foul language. rediff should filter such contents. many people don't have proper knowledge of english, rediff should not allow such people to write filthy comments about reviewers.

Actually Dewaar is not made badly...but
by Sumit on Jul 10, 2004 04:58 PM

Actually Dewaar is not made badly.
But after watching Hum Tum and Lakshya, and expecting a movie of the same calibre is a mistake. Both Hum Tum and Lakhsya had a good storyline, and most significantly had a very good presentation and story build up. Both these movies did not divert from the topic, the central theme of he movie. No characters in these movies were just put in as an afterthought. There was no wasting of time by useless songs in which the story not only stopped moving, but took a rather different direction.
In all these apsects, Dewaar lacks. But if u are the likes who claps at Shahrukh who does amazingly dumb stunts in MHN or believe only in idol-worshipping, then dewaar is just for you. With a powerful storyline like this, i wonder why does the director choose to introduce worthless characters like Amrita (nothing against her), and then dump her? Why have song and dance sequences where the attempt is only to lure front benchers? In all, the story tellng is not cohesive, and u feel like that ur just watching a movie, not indulging in it. A waste of the talent in the movie and the power of the theme. A definite letdown. Email: sumit_pal@rediffmail.com

How cud this be possible???
by Vinay on Jul 09, 2004 02:22 PM

Two intresting flaw in direction also..first it was said that prisoners specially Major(Amitabh Bachhan) is in jail for about 33 yrs then how can be in one seen it was told that Akshay Khanna is 30 year old....now question arises is Akshay was son of Major...what say???

And second thing Akshay went first time to pakistan and he was aware of all the routs of pakistan even in climax when it was said on waireless that some prisoners are in jail no. 106 he goes staright to that...how he knows everything so well in pakistan..

Think and answer anybody..

thanks

hey man, who says the bullet is manufactured in england now? for ur kind information, the bullet production started in chennai from 1962 and since 1970s, all other factories of royal enfield bullet in the world (including england) has been closed down and now bullet is only manufactured in India only, though its exported to all over the world.
