THIS MOVIE PUTS REALITY INTO THE FRONT
by Zubair on Jul 16, 2004 11:14 PM

For people who say this movie is misleading, they better watch it again or check their english.

The director has done a lot of research and shown the truth. All the real ppl are shown in the movie. I was amazed when a member of the senate said " We dont read every bills that we pass."

thats so foolish of them to say that on camera.

This movie is worth watching and i give it 10 out of 10

Michael Moore's Tribute
by Div on Jul 05, 2004 10:27 AM

I have been a big fan of Michael Moore's articles and films. He attracted me for the first time when I had watched 'Bowling for Columbine'. Ever since, I have been watching his cancelled show 'The Awful Truth' and other mini-documentary films. Last week, I went to go watch the Fahrenheit 9/11. It was an interesting film with a twist. Many of the facts in the film are not really "facts". Some are construed to his interpretation, which makes it a dangerous piece of information to rely on. I do not think he was much careful with making this film. Many of the information actually has some flaws that need to be corrected. Also, many of the facts presented were true. That is why this film is great to watch. His premise concerning the war with Iraq was correct, but I agree with the war to remove idiot dictators such as Saddaam. Overall the movie was great and entertaining. I would recommend people to go see the movie, but not take it was a "whole" truth until finding the facts for yourself. Also, do not listen to these Conservative radio host or news critics. They have agendas that they are trying to conjure up. They will bash this film to its fullest, but will not give their side of the facts. Be smart and THINK.

Watch it despite your inhibitiions...

With all the reviews/essays/Op-Ed's being written on this film these past couple weeks and the Eisner-Miramax-Cannes hoopla earlier this year, I felt I knew every little thing I could expect from this. But I was surprised to find myself being moved by some parts and genuinely amused by some of the "lighter parts" in the film.
It's everything they say - polemic, polarized, low-brow character assaulting, right wing bashing (to put it mildly!). But it's also a triumph of free speech in a time and age when the mainstream media appear unified in it's quest for toned down, bland reporting of the war and the crazy logic behind it.

Michael Moore screams on your face on the ulterior motives of the Bush government (quite literally at times) and although he and his sometimes out-of-context references could be toned down a little, it still is a frightening, near Orwellian picture he paints of the state of this country and the hardliners that run it! Bowling for Columbine started on putting together that big picture but was frustratingly vague in it's arguments. This one, although self-contradicting at times, does seem a lot more compelling!

Congratulation to the whole team of Fahrenheit 9/11. This film will encourage us to say something against the wrong doer, may be he is President.

movie effects on Americans
by Ritesh on Jun 29, 2004 08:46 PM

The non-fiction movie/documentary as mentioned by the writer is pretty absorbing. There is far too much information which lets the viewer wonder how much of it is true and how much is not. But Moore has shown a lot of things with documentation on the screen which puzzles you as to the reason why this thing is true, like the uncanny relationship of father-son Bush duo with the Bin-laden's.
The worst part is that in my view it's not going to have any substantial effect on the elections. The reason being that I've talked to many americans (pro Bush and anti-bush) and it seems like the pro ones don't give a damn about the movie and anti ones just get a little more agressive.
Let's wait for the November elections.
BTW, in hindi they say "Sab ek hi thaili ke chatte-batte hain".

''Fahrenheat''
by Manoj Balraj on Jun 28, 2004 07:32 PM

For a piece of work that got one of the longest standing ovations at the Cannes film festival, I was piqued with curiosity as to how Moore managed to get his documentary so much attention. So I went to watch Fahrenheit 9/11, this weekends biggest grosser and the biggest ever grosser for a documentary. Yet my expectations were low. Because I believe one need not be a genius in compiling all available information to make a successful documentary.

But this 125 minute documentary opened my eyes to something else. Yes, I may be no fan or follower of any political school of thought or any partys philosophy. I belong to a growing generation of people who believed it is a laudable attribute to possess, if I did not think much about politics or be concerned about the people who manipulate them.

But this documentary reminds you once again, that it is this very dangerously fast growing, politically ignorant generation which can provide more opportunities to the powers that be to misuse power.

An excellent review !
by Mukund on Jun 28, 2004 12:46 PM

To tell the truth, I have not watched this film. But after reading this balanced review, it makes one to go and watch the film. As Mr.Pais, so gracefully put it, this movie is a Creative Non-fiction documentary. On one hand you have liberals in America lauding it and the other hand you have the Conservatives showering it with brickbats. Having seen Mr.Moore's previous movie "Bowling for Columbine" there is no doubt that he dares to take on a contreversial topic head on and put his own slant while delivering the film. If people wanted to watch an unbiased opinion they can read the news footage and determine for themselves. However in an era of Media manipulation by politicians and "Spin-doctors", it is a voice of change that deserves to be heard.
