in movies the portrayal of the character is more important than the colour. U think in Hindi movies evryone is doing an appropriate role.I dont think so. U shud always c the performance not just the skin colour. Our Black Diamond Rajini still is the hero of the masses & classes not bcz of his colour its bcz of his roles and performance.
South Indian Movies though good story wise has one of the worst looking heroes ever. Apart from a few like Ajith , Surya , Kamal there are hardly any good looking ones . Not to forget the volumes of hero bullshit and "mass oriented " dialog . No matter how black the hero is the heroine must always be fair and young. If you all want better recognition then u better change that.

what the heck. world wide white people want to turn brown. you say black heroes are not smart? I cant imagine still racism exists in india. Many brown heroines have won accolades too, like nanditha das, silkSmitha(one of the best beauties),radha, banu priya.......etc.
The white-alone-beauty concept exists only in bombay movies......where only a north born people are allowed to work.
when i heard about this i felt proud to be an indian and a tamilian. i wonder why bollywood remakes all the good tamil movies and never give credit to the original director. this has to stop. if the they are "open-minded" these days, its time they appreciate some good tamil movies, NOT THE CRAPPY ONES. after all WE ARE INDIANS TOO and have contributed significantly to the hindi film industry. i dont have to give specific names, coz they there are many south indian directors.
At last a regional movie is getting the recognition that it truely deserves.
I am a south indian by birth but lived all my life in Calcutta and major of friends being non south indians.
Whenever I have tried to explain to my friends that an average quality of South Indian movies are much better than a well made Hindi, I have been scoffed at and at times even ridiculed.....
Even the tittle of this article one should notice says an 'Indian Film'....had it been an Hindi movie, it would have had a tittle as an 'HINDI MOVIE BEING REMADE', this double standards exist even today for the norrow minded Hindi movie watchers...........
The quality of regional movies, subject, script, acting etc are of very high standards..for examples.......Bengali movies of olden days..for the past 20-25 yrs of tamil, Telegu, Malayalam, Marathi movies are of high qaulity...I have not watched many of the other regional mivies like>>assamese, punjabi, gujarati etc..to comment about them...
tamil, telegu movies had a very high viewership in south asian countries for a long time unlike hindi movies which attracts hindi speaking viewship in US & UK only nowadys.....

You are right! Take for example the lopsided IIFA award cermonies. They call it the International Indian Film Awards and they only recognize hindi films there. What a farce.
Most of the hindi films made are copied or inspired from south indian movies, that is if they dont copy from hollywood movies first!!!
The original movies they make are the likes of kabhi kushi kabhi gham or main hoon naa. Quality movies like Lagaan/Dil chahta hai are once-in-a-year affairs.

Hey bud.. but nowa days its a open fact ... after Mani n rahman stormed into the national scene.... i knwo so many ppl who admit that the south techies at work are a big force!! even the stars trip over each other 2 bag a Mani ratnam movie.. ther is Ram gopal who is a bigg name too!! so mayb 10 yrs back was the feeling that south is still a secy forcce.......
but the fact remains that apart from Rajni and kamal..we need more ppl to ba big name abroad..!!
