Dev - a must see for the BJP high command
by Sunil D. Yande on Jun 22, 2004 10:34 PM

Several of the relevant issues in present-day India like "nationalism", "communalism", "secularism" and "terrorism" are tackled head-on in Dev, for the first time. If BJP cannot "pin-point" the reason for its defeat in the recent elections, watching Dev may give its leaders some "food-for-thought and introspection".

The situation tackled in Dev is not unique to India; it is equally applicable to the USA and its handling of terrorism - or for that matter relevant to every country in trying to deal with minorities and their disenchantment with the government.

The movie may not be as well crafted as one would expect from Govind Nihalani, however the fact that such a theme has been handled and the issues raised eliciting a debate at the national level is in itself commendable.

this is just another stunt to publicize the film, bcoz its difficult to make this film a hit without such stunts. the theme is good but the presentation is so poor that that it irritates. i didn't expect such a skin deep presentation by a director of Govind Nihlani's stature. i was very much disappointed on watching the movie.

why dev in trouble
by sanjay choudhary on Jun 17, 2004 12:18 AM

we indians are yet to mature enough to accept the hard facts of our lives and we want everyone to see the world and surroundings through our vision. moreover in case of films certain elements behave like a super censor and feel that they have the right to decide what people should see and what they not. such elemnts are extremely harmful to the freedom of expression of common man. we are grown up to understand what we should see and what we must avoid. no irresponsile idiot should have the right to instruct the censor and the people. such fundamentalist elements should not be supported by the courts nor should they be allowed to be violent in case of any film which they do not like as it is happening now a days.

Did anyone remember Bombay?
by cheez_m on Jun 16, 2004 11:58 PM

Guys! the same was asked before the release of Bombay. Dev gives an opportunity for the society to introspect. I am a muslim and Dev is not going to elevate or increase the gujrat pain. Movie is a movie and nothing else.

i think the whole idea of getting a stay order is one which is very flimsy.if the gentlemen who has initiated the case feels that due to one film bringing in the memories of gujrat violence threatens peace,i think it is very foolish to assume that the present peace reflects alls hunky and dory.sorry dude...unless the wounds are healed properly there is no use of applying a a bandage...there is no self heeling... let the truth come out...and let the truth win..
AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE U FREE
at least in the end India surely will win...

I fully agree with the case against film as they keep on trying people to remember gruesome incidents. Moreover i do not understand the purpose of making the film.
