Anil Kapoor
by Tanmoy on Jun 04, 2004 08:17 AM

I think though it is hard to find, but Anil Kapoor actually matured perfectly with Age, he looks good with younger actresses. And he developed into a good actor himself

why grow up?
by chela on Jun 04, 2004 04:11 AM

age is a state of the mind, not body..
to prove my point:
do you think anupam kher could have passed as a hero playing his age of 28 and yes shahrukh looked convincing as a college student in Kuch kuch hota hai.

Nice article but!
by Senthil on Jun 04, 2004 03:56 AM

Last 2 years bollywood has produced wonderful movies like never before. I am not at all indicating masala movies here with unnecssary songs and apprantly hit due to just presence of Sharikh Khan, Big B , Rehman's template drien music etc. Rather I am poining at movies where young talent like Urmila, Rani Mukharji, Saif Ali etc could experiment character roles. Not to mention Aamir Khan in Dil Chahata Hai, Nasser in Teen Diwaree, Rajpal Yadav and Antara Mali in Mai Madhuri Dikshit Banana Chahati Hu, Arshad Warsi in Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part 2 and the list goes on of very well directed and logical films. What really makes me mad is the way Amitabh Bachhan and Sharukh Khan are picking up crapiest roles and doing same type of acting..They simply suck. This article "Grow Up " should be directed at Big B and Sharukh. Others like Salman , Akshay Kumar etc are irrelevant here as thay are useless. Somebody indicated starting of anti-south feelings. I must say that guy has no understanding of movies and how amazing bollywood is when it comes to expermeting great ideas. As far as Mani Ratnam is concerned he should sensibly produce films without songs.

I would go for Yuva anyday...

than for bakwas like MHN. Moreover, movies like MHN should be boycotted for spreading misinformation in the name of India-Pakistan bhai-bhai message. India has always been at the receiving end of terrorism from Pakistan and the movie depicts the right of center in India responsible for the mess. What kind of social responsibility is this? It is high time that faltoo actors such as SRK realize that singing songs and dancing around like a teenager from college is not going to acceptable. I hope the directors put more effort into their characters and story otherwise we will have a terminally ill going around in New York in the best of health trying to play cupid or we will have a father of two kids playing the character of a college kid with utter disdain for social responsibility towards our security forces. Are we insane or what to watch such malicious bakwas???

I know! I got angry when I watched Main Hoon Na! What kind of ridiculous political message was it trying to convey? Pakistanis have invaded us, and yet WE'RE at fault??? Pakistani terrorists are cutting off the heads of our armymen, and yet WE'RE at fault????? SRK said in the movie that "someone has to start the peace movement between the two countries." What kind of peace can there be between two nations when one refuses to TOLERATE the other? How is there going to be peace when we are INFIDELS to the Pakistanis? But the stupidest thing was that in the end, Raghavan was acting in his OWN interests, and not in the interests of the nation. The movie in the end destroyed the very argument it had spent two hours building!

Suniel Shetty was right when he said in the movie that Pakistan is always taking India for a ride. We're fools to even listen to their "peace" overtures. Nothing has changed on the ground.

Stupid movies like MHN should be banned. They only make members of the Indic-religions stupider. India's the world's biggest chicken-state.

But then again, considering that almost everyone involved in the movie was a Muslim, I didn't expect a logical argument anyways.

Film critics are biased
by Vivek Bakshi on Jun 04, 2004 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

I have noticed that our film critics are somewhat similar to the leftists/communists - they seem to take pleasure in deriding any movie which has nationalistic themes & instead glorify movies which portray India or Indians in a bad light.

I saw this happen during LOC Kargil. Same thing happens to Yuva. Both were great movies made by great directors. However, the critics in the media gave very bad reviews.

whatever happened to the word called 'versatile'??ajay and abhishek did a great job and i guess we need to applaud them for taking up such roles.though Maniratnam is known to be one of the best - I still dont think hes recognized well in the bollwood circles.shame on all those who cannot see an 'intelligent' movie

Superb article
by deepa on Jun 03, 2004 08:01 PM

This article is good. An actor should always think that he is also a human being and he also grows old. even Hindi movie icon like Amitabh Bacchan had to bear heavy criticism from his own die-hard fans when he tried to play much younger rold in mritudata and laal badsah and others. Remember Rishi Kapoor...the way he had to leave the industry. people were like" We hate that guy..pls no more movies" he just disappeared. He could have gracefully accepted his age and start doing some roles matching his age. but he chose to run around trees with much younger actress and his career's ending was a disaster.

Yuva is a kind of movie which is tough to understand but wow!!!!it is a good movie. Only Mani ratnam can make such a movie. I 'd prefer such movie than MHN

In today's hindo fil world, I guess, Anil kapoor, Sunny Deol and even SRK should remember that they are getting old. Aamir is Ok because he comes once in a while and ppl are not tired of his look. Though it will be highly unacceptable to see him as a collge going guy..mangal pandey shud be good.
