Losers are those who cudn't appreciate the quality of the movie , they can't always have a mushy lovey dovey kind of movies everytime. Yuva rocks , great direction ,a very realistic film and a great job done by our Abhi for the first time. :D

Yuva is too good...
by Venki on Jun 03, 2004 03:03 PM

Hi,
I have seen both the Tamil and Hindi versions of the movie, and I believe it is a fantastic movie with a typical Maniratnam touch. In Tamil especially, Madhavan and Surya have delivered a wonderful performance.
Abhishek Bachan's performance in Yuva is commendable.
I am really surprised by the media reaction to this movie. Instead of encouraging movies like this which come with a strong message, media hypes "bakwaas" movies like "Main hoon na"...
This is really sad.

Yuva is a winner !

well we all know what a genius like mani ratnam is capable of..and 'yuva' proves it in both the versions.. i am not really sure how these people call themselves 'trade journalists'.. they can give a thumbs-up to a crappy movie called 'main hoon na' and say 'yuva' is a loser.. mani ratnam is the only director who dares to make films such as these.. and as a 'critic' one expects to encourage such form of film-making and not kill it, as mani rightly put it.. irrespective of what is said about the movie by a few losers who call themselves 'trade analysts' it remains a very well made movie ..kudos mani !

Yuva is a great movie
by Anuroop on Jun 03, 2004 02:32 PM

Who told that Yuva is a not good? Its a great movie. People how are having some real sence will really enjoy this movie. Some of the directors are afrid of ManiRatnam. "Trade pundits" can go to hell. They write off most good movies which even become hits! Most of these analysts are corrupt and have vested ...

Yuva is a loser???
by Ganesh on Jun 03, 2004 02:26 PM

Yuva released on May 21st but news started flowing in all websites and other on may 20th itself that the movie is a flop. How can a film be declared flop even before it is released? where as the same case Main Hoon Na is a okie film but it was declared hit before it released. And it is still treated at HIT. People just read the reviews and watch the movies which is declared as hit and other movies they watch in vcd. So Please give clear reviews. Yuva is a wonderful movie. Maniratnam movies are treated in the same way and its very very bad reviews which makes the movie flop or average. But we find later getting awards all over the world for those movies. Do not write reviews until the movie is released.

Yuva

Yuva is different from general releases. Its got a new look, new style of script(although seen in foreign films)and good performances. Unfortunately its the weakest film by maestro Mani Ratnam (which i think he should himself admit). I have seen most of his movies, and when one compares Mouna Raagam, Geetanjali, Nayakan, Agni Nakshatram,Roja,Thiruda Thiruda, and Kannathil Mutthamittal to this one, its evident that there was some compromise somewhere that the final product is below expectation. I am from Kolkata and I feel that there are lots of factual errors in the script and locations(esp that its raining throughout the film-although the story moves ahead, rani mukherjee's pregnancy the setting where Ajay Devgan and friends campaign--which is shot in tamil nadu and has no visual connection to bengal, etc etc)

plus i also felt that the flashbacks were a bit too long.only abhishek and ajay's stories ended before the interval, i wish even vivek's story was also over, and the climax was more interesting.

anyway, the movie has made people think and its good at least people are talking ab it. I guess the tamil version will be better and i wish it does very well

yuva

I watched Yuva with some expectation. And it didn't let me down. The structure was interesting and it is loosely inspired by Amores Perros. But the way Yuva has been crafted and shot is quite fantastic actually. Compared to Bubble gum pop movies like Kal ho na ho, Main hoon na, Hum tum,Yuva is leagues apart. Though I would admit there are certain things in Yuva that could have been done without, Like Ajay Devgan's extensive village walk. It is a movie that will be remembered for what it was and by a few for what it wasn't.
