The entire cinema industry has lost a gem of an actor. Our deepest sympathies with his family in this difficult time...Words cannot suffice his loss. May god rest his soul in peace. He would be long remembered in the times to come and the younger generation should learn loads of things from him.
It's a pity that an actor of Amrish Puri's versatility has all along been forced to enacy all those crappy roles in Hindi movies. It exposes the quality(?) of our so-called "great" Bollyowood moviemakers. Had there been someome of the calibre of Elia Kazan, Hitchcock or Coppola in Bollywood, Amrish Puri would have been ruling the world cinema! But then, as the proverb goes, "Quod licet Jovi, non licet Bovi" (what is permitted to Jupiter, is not permitted to the ox), and as long as we only have "bovi"s making Bollywood movies, Amrish Puri will have to continue being Mogambo.
Yes The interview with Amrish Puri was a nice one.I think Amrish Puri is certainly one of the best character actors of our indian Cinema. His roles in Mr.India,Ghayal,Virasat,Gardish,Gadar ek prem katha,
jhoot bole kauwa kate, Ghatak,Ram-lakhan are superb. He is a versatile actor. Kuddos to Rediff for remembring great actors like Amrish Puri.
Good job rediff! We are too interested to look into the lives of superstars and popular actors that somehow character actors are often forgotten. This was probably the first article I've read on Amrishji. He is a gem of a person who has done almost every kind of role in the last three decades. Hats off to the veteran actor for maintaining the fitness to do so well even at this age! Wish him all the best for his future projects!

I am big fan of Amrish puri. But I donot like the film awards. Everytime they give awards to Amitabh and SRK. Why not Amrish puri ? I never seen that Amrish puri got any award. I donot know why ? He never get life time achievement award.
