Chale Chalo - Better than lagaan
by sandeep on Jul 12, 2004 12:05 PM

The film Chale Chalo is better than the film Lagaan.Lagaan was no doubt a super hit film but Chale Chalo is one step further. The film has been directed very well by Satyajit Bhatkal. The process of the film making which is shown is amazing. People come to know what it takes to make a film like Lagaan. What sacrifices people gave to make a film. The team spirit is shown perfectly in the movie.I suggest that each compny should take his employees to watch this film, because this film devlops a team spirit between the cast & crew of the film. The film shows when u r here you are one. In the film there was one shot where they tell you that there was a bus which was supposed to go from the hotel to the site at 5 am. the bus will not stop for anybody. And you know what Aamir was also supposed to travel in that bus. But one that Aamir got late by 5 min.. and the bus was.. gone.It also shows the importance of punctuality in the film. The people like me.who are always late in the office have learnt a lot from this film.that's all for now.
Three cheers to
Aamir
Aamir wife Reena
Ashutosh
Satyajit
Lagaan 11
and all the crew member and the people of Kuttch

Regards
Sandeep Ashar

Hmm..
Lagaan
by Hmm.. on Jul 05, 2004 11:31 AM  | Hide replies

Frankly, I didn't find Lagaan to be the brilliant movie that everyone keeps claiming it is. Gadar was better. The movie, first of all, was very superficial. Fighting a cricket match over a tax? Huh? Also, why a cricket match? Why not an INDIAN sport? Come on people, I HATE THAT STUPID ENGLISH GAME. Also, Lagaan tries be as "secular" as possible, with all the happy Muslims and Hindus. The truth is very different.

Gadar, however, tells it as it is. Although it gets overheated in bits, the movie is true to the facts for the majority of it. I LOVED IT.

If you dont like the game its your problem, but Cricket is treated as one of the secular religions in India as it is very much evident from our current Indian team led by Sourav Ganguly with Hindus and Muslims fighting together to win matches for India.
For your kind information, Cricket is being loved by 100 million people in India.

I too find Gadar to be watchable but Lagaan and Gadar are two films with different themes.....Uncomparable.

This is the first time I've posted a message on this site & am doing so because i wanted to tell this for a long time.
First of all, i love CRICKET. Though in US, i've made every effort to watch the game when India plays. I also love MOVIES and I have to tell that Lagaan is probably the most over-hyped movie in Indian cinema(next to Devdas maybe). It is an okay movie by indian standards but a director like Gowrikar shouldnt even probably utter words like "Oscar" forget dreaming of getting one.
I was totally embarrassed when they played the clip of lagaan in oscars. It made it to Oscars purely by politics and hollywood connections. If the makers think they can win Oscar by making a Lagaan or a Devdas, there cant be bigger fools than them!

Ehtesham Khan
Its worth a watch
by Ehtesham Khan on Jul 03, 2004 11:21 AM

Its worth a watch for the simple fact that how much effeort a sincere and dedicated crew has made to make such a movie and how lot of readymade industrial houses and industry bigwigs near and dear make craps by ignoring such details.
No doubt it is a very professional attitude and approch and all film makers should get themselves in the sale mode to save the industry.

by Paromita on Jul 03, 2004 05:35 AM

ALL THE BEST TO THE MAKING OF ANOTHER CLASSIC....... after lagaan, from the members of the said grouup !!!!

Hope this film will come out as another top ten movie list ot BOLLYWOOD KINGDOM till now... another feather in the cap of bolyywood cinema. There arre few movies to be treated as classics of Indian cinema, and LAAGAAN is one of them. It is such a film that always relaxes and reinfuses energy into viewers.

Irony of Amir Khan
by Pankaj Jain on Jul 03, 2004 02:34 AM  | Hide replies

I wonder why no director ever repeats Amir Khan:

Lagaan director replaced him with Shahrukh in his next venture SWADES

Yash Chopra never took Amir again after their only combined venture PARAMPARA

Farhaan Akhtar replaced him with Hritik Roshan for LAKSHYA

Unlike Amir, Shahrukh has strong and lengthy relations with whoever he worked with: Yash Chopra, Karan Johar. I think Amir is better talented than Shahrukh but may not be a good team-player as is evident with his failed marriage (he had divorce last year)

Dude, as soon as his movie releases, it gets to become such a huge hit, rest of the directors feel out of the elite group! Inferiority complex, you see! Such is the kinda guy Aamir Khan is!! We hail you Aamir, we love you :->
