khakee is very average
by len on Jan 27, 2004 10:06 AM

The only reason to watch Khaki is AB else its a very very average fair
They might say masala stuff. ill say too much commercial compromises
The way songs are inserted needlessly and the way situations are created for songs reminds of movies of 80s
Shows that the makers lacked convication of having a songless movie the way RVG gang has had in Bhoot n noe Ek Haseena thi

There are 2 many loopholes
What are 5 cops trying to do when 8 were killed while deporting an ISI agent the accussed previous attempt,

Some1 wrote all characters are well etched, n that is true
Also the same person wrote the movie does not fall into stupid cliches
Meaningless songs popping out n love angle between a cop n a lady while deporting criminal just cos hes a man n shes a gal
I gess that was pretty original n very realistic stuff!!

Howerver closeness to reality is ther buu in parts
One of the good scenes however not getting mentioned is Akshay is trying to please his Srs by willing to do household work, which is abs reality

The most ridiculous stuff. Why is any1 shooting his film near by a place where ther hav been riots just last week.
Gess it was Santoshi shootin his next flick !!!!!

I found this movie much below expectations. Yes, there are messages. But they are too subtle and the main thing is that every scene is overdone and unrealistic. This film is different because it has fantasy and overdoes scenes at a time when films are trying not to do it. One of the reasons LoC failed is because it overdid its scenes.

DO NOT EXPECT MUCH FROM __KHAKEE__
by Dharmendra Tolani on Jan 26, 2004 02:32 AM

I don't understand what has gone wrong with rediff this time. They have left no stone unturned in praising Khakee. Whatever they or any other reviewers say, DO NOT expect much from this movie. There is loads of non-sense involved in this supposedly
*different* movie :
(1) AB crossing through a violent crowd, adamant on killing him, without much effort.
(2) Ajay Devgan killing a cop, in the end, and letting
Mr. Tushar Kapoor off peacefully.
(3) Reviewer is rave about the new villian(Sabyasachi), but he IS the biggest minus of this flick.
(4) And the typical bollywood-fight-scenes are in abundance.

To finish it off, DO NOT expect much from Khakee.

Khakhee portrays different shades of the cops as they are in real life.
by Manoj Pandole on Jan 25, 2004 11:41 PM

Khakee boasts not only of an excellent storyline, magnificient artwork & supreme direction but it scores its marks on the most difficult terrain & that is, it touches everyone's heart somewhere during its course.
Khakee is not just about ACP Anant Srivastav(Amitabh Bachchan), Inspector Shekhar(Akshay Kumar) or Sub-Inspector Ashwin Gupte(Tusshar Kapoor), its about a system which seems to be corrupt from top to bottom & how a handful of cops show courage and grit to overcome this corrupt system to emerge victorious.
To its advantage, Rajkumar Santoshi has portrayed every character in Khakee to their best. Take for instance ACP Anant Srivastava, who at the fag end of his career, believes himself to be a failure, but still believes in being true and never complains about the system. So when given this so called last oppurtunity, the old-young man takes up the challenge.
As if to portray different shades of the police force, Santoshi then reins in Akshay Kumar, a grey shade of the police force. And we have Tusshar, portraying the young face of police force,is young, daring & believes honesty is the best policy.
All in all, Khakee portrays the different shades of the cops in real life.

Anurag Goyal
Well made but still some mistakes
by Anurag Goyal on Jan 25, 2004 07:21 PM

Well made movie indeed! Rajkumar Santoshi ji has again proved that he is the boss! The movie is well scripted - all that one would think is that - the dialogues were not as solid as one would expect in a Santoshi film. China Gate was phenomenal on that front. Moreover there were some technical errors, but those are excusable when they are few in number. Overall it was a gem of a movie! Akshay kumar's performance was really commendable in it!

Keep up the good work Santoshiji! You are truely the Rajkumar of the Indian Film Industry :)

Best Wishes,
Anurag

Sabyasaachi is not a new face for hindi cinema. He acted in Dil Se.
