u cant get better that r d

dear sir

You are mistaken. There are several music directors if not better than RD at least equal to him. U name them and they are there.

The melody of madan mohan is equal to none. The SJ is marvellous who ilntroduced Latas voice in films. It is not proper to forget counting the contribution of Kalyanji Anandji.

Your opinion therefore on RD is just one sided and partisan. i regret the opinion.

Shreeram, I agree with you but angry with you too for omitting another maestro- the one and the only Op Nayyar saheb known for his lilting array of numbers that still linger in people's ears!

And there was Raj Kamal who wasn't all that popular until Mahabharath teleserial brought him laurlels.

Khayyam was another great music director.

Well the list is endless, my friend
We can only look back at those days when life was full of lovely music and music full of life!

Today noise passes off as music!!

by Shriram on Jan 06, 2004 09:32 PM  | Hide replies

Let me make you a list of those better, far better than RD :

- Pankaj Mallick
- Khemchand Prakash
- Anil Biswas
- C.Ramchandra
- Roshan
- Jaidev
- Salil Chowdhury
- Sajjad Husain
- Khursheed Anwar
- S.D.Burman

Why dont you go on a pilgrimage through these composers'
music and discover something new rather than just parroting the
same thing every year ?

You are right......and you can add S. D., Pancham's father to the list of the great composers.
You have also missed O. P. Nayyar, who brought out the real potential of Asha, and not RD. But people soon forget history.

And how can you forget Madan Mohan, Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan and many more? Its very bold statement that RD is the greatest. There will be fierce altercations on this statement.

And did you miss what Annu Malik said about one thing he learnt from RD? He said he learnt to copy a song without making feel like copied......so thats what Annu, the great is expected to learn from RD, the greatest! So let the wise decide now.......

To all readers who say there are better composers,
I agree that there were many great composers but who listens to these music today as much as RD is listened to ?
Whose songs are remixed more than RDs today ? Which music directors songs are used in movies even today?
Which music directors have tribute paid to them in movies ( RD has in Jhankar Beats and others)
RD was far ahead of his time and thats why his songs are popular even today

Its difficlt to make a top 25 list for RD, even though the list was a good one.

My other choices would include

O mere dil ke chain
O Hansini - Harjaii
Samundar me nahake
Aa dil kya mehfil hai tere
Duniya me ( best Song sung by RD)
Pyar hame kis mod pe le aaya

Thanks
Ashwin N
