Why did'nt LOC do very well in US or elsewhere? the answer is simple...The Audience outside india is just not the Indians, its Pakis and B'desis as well. No one would turn to watch this film for obvious reasons. Film's length could not stop Indians from watching this well made movie. Its a matter of sham if people do not know as to what LoC stands for?
So dont blam Dutta, he did a fantastic job as usual. He nevers makes a fake entertainer like KHNH etc. He delivers real cinema.May be there are few takers of Real Indian cinema or some people wrongly construed real cinama with fake entertainment or johars and chopras.

Shameful disgusting affair!!!
by vineet on Jan 08, 2004 10:06 PM

This movie can not be viewed with family with "tons of cheap vulgar abuses " uttered by soldiers .(I donot know about the cinema hall version but CD of this movie was full of them)
Mr. J.P.Dutta....do you have anything like social responsibilities associated while making a movie and specifically a patriotic movie like this one(which is supposed to be watched with whole family). No civilized Indian families can watch or hear such vulgar abuses and what is our great censor board doing here????
and what would be the impact on younger generation and specially on children when they see and hear their ideal Army officers uttering such cheap abuses.Should they take inspirations from what is shown in the movie and start using these abuses casually in normal day - to -day life???
I could n't watch this movie with my family and kins and cousins.
Disgusting affair!!!

there was nothing new in LoC

Border was a hit coz it was well made film. Considering the canvas of LoC it was better to make a Tele Serial like Tom Hanks did with Band of Soldiers. C'mon for how many years you are going to show same thing as war film? Songs while seperating from Family, asking to join the force while on leave! Showing Muslim soldier helping Hindu soldier etc. Each and every Hindi Movie have this things. Film Makers are making it as a commercial film so why people after paying 100-150 rs. accept it for the sake of Patriotism for common man it is just a movie. Speaking about realism, how real it is to show Long hairs in army? Don't they have something called Haircut? It's easy to say watch Loc than KHNH! Compare LoC with Saving Private Ryan, Behind the Enemy Lines or Enemy at the Gates and you will see the difference. Can hindi war movies will be hit without punch lines, abusing and great Dialogues?

...that LoC didn't work in the international market. What do u expect from NRI's , 90% of whom don't even know what LoC stands for , or what the Kargil war was all about. The only cinematic language that makes sense to them is family drama, romance and sex appeals of the individual stars in the movies. Patriotism and NRIs..Duh Huh! Give me a break.

I'll tell u what makes me think that NRI's don't know abt LoC...I was born here in America and I stay in Birmingham Alabama and I have met and known more NRIs than u will ever know in ur life.
So, don't give me that crap. Most of my peers don't even know what it means and what Kargil was about. U guys were brought up in India, took a GRE and came over here... so u know abt India but don't make a big fuss as if u know abt both countries.I bet u don't even have any friends who were brought up in this country. So don't speak for us....

i dont now what makes u think that NRIs dont know about kargil and LoC....most of the Indians here in US associate themselves with kashmir and are as concered as any other indian. i guess ur GK is weak that y u so easily forgot that it were that NRI' s who generated more than 4$billion when US imposed sanctions on India. I have lived in India for 20 years and i kno what indian citizen do for the country....thats y only 5% of the people pay taxes and that too because they are salaried employees and its automatically deducted from their salaries. i m sure u will change ur views once u will see people celebrating 15th august here. in india its just an excuse for a holiday....pls dont comment unless u have the knowledge of the subject.......

That's a shame

Its a shame that a Patriotic movie (that is as real as it can get) didn't fare well as much as a meaningless romantic sentimental movie abroad.

I totally agree with this view but we indian have been like this for ages. This is the prime reason we have been ruled by invaders for such along time. If we still donot pay respect to those who give their lives for us we will again become slaves . It is high time that we stop seeing wothless movies like KHNH and Chalte Chalate and appericiate hard work put by person like J P Dutta. Seeing this movie will be a token of respect to our brave soldiers.

Ya I too agree, Though KHNH is a nice movie...but its a pity that we are keeping LOC and KHNH in the same category and are treating them at par as an entertainment movie.

We need to acknowledge the difference that LOC is not a movie, and please don't compare LOC with Chopra's , Karan Johar, etc movies, lets accept this movie as a depiction of our brave soldiers fight in Kargil, if not real atleast somewhat close, and through this movie we got a chance to remember our heroes and to tell them they would be always loved and remembered in our hearts.
