A deft director. In Vijay Anand's movies u may experience the essence of the director. U just think of Jhonny mera Naam. many movies with same theme are there but u experience it different and u like to watch repeatedly. No scene boring. No scene boring. May his soul rest in peace. shivrajmenon@rediffmail.com ,
Vijay Anand was a brilliant film maker and enjoyed huge success in the later sixties and early seventies. But he was also neglected by the industry in the late 70's and 80's. His brilliance and talent were never fully recognised. It is at least good that the film industry at least paid homage to him on his death. I had the opportunity of watching Teesri Manzil and Tere Ghar Ke Saamne recently. The picturisation of songs especially in Tere Ghar Ke Saamne were excellent and even today no other director till date can match his picturisation of songs. I only pray to God that may his soul rest in peace.
I had never met Vijay Anand but the news of his death has come to me as if I have lost a relative. His movies were really masterpieces. If you think about Guide, Jewel Thief , Johny Mera Naam and Teesri Manzil they were much ahead of their times. In fact Goldie did not get what he deserved . I think he peaked very early if you think he directed Guide in his 30s. It was a pity he did not direct any movie after Rajput. I pray that he may rest in peace.
Vijay Anand was a very talented directors of the commercial HIndi Cenema. His 'guide' was a landmark movie. He gave that movie when other comm.film directors were engaged in a very mediocre film stuff.
Vijay Goldie Anand was undoubtedly one of the best directors of the bollywood. Of the stream of memorable movies where it is difficult to pick one favourite, my pick would be Tere Mere Sapne, where you get to see the class of Vijay Anand as a writer, editor, director and actor. who can forget the 13 min.(5 min. in the movie) sequence in his debut Nau do Gyarah, or the amazing shot of teesree manzil where the suspence opens. Guide has always been rated as one of the very best of indian cinema. Of course there were a couple of forgettables like Ram Balram and Rajput, but more often than not he was on target, winning hearts. His death has left a void in the indian cinema.
We were waiting for his new venture"JANA NO DIL SE DOOR" in memory of his eldest brother. A wonderfully successful duo of Viay and Dev would be remebered for ever. You were great Goldie. We wish peace for your soul
