My comments on Rudraksh
by Ambar on Feb 19, 2004 02:20 PM  | Hide replies

Hello everyone

I saw Rudraksh just a few days back and strongly believe that a film of this type should be made. we Indian have a inherent drawback of critising our own things while taking anything from the other parts of the world with a gasped mouth. We find the Acheological ruins of Lanka in Rudraraksh fake but when James Bond KIlls a dozen in the Cover of indiscrimate firing but does enen get a single bruise ,leaves us awestruck and panting for more. This is high time that we come over this habbit. A film like Rudraksh shouuld be made because it is on this kind of ambitious projects that the future of the Indian film Industry depend. As far as th Sfx goes we may not be as sound as our western counterparts but the steady progress is visible. How long can we take melodramatic, stereotype action/romance or romantic films .It is films like Rudraksh that bring a an air of freshness to bored indian moviegoers like us. Thus I personally feel that other than going bersek critisizing Rudraksh we should look forward to recreate the the ideas provided by such films & try to rectify the mistakes that had evidently happened.................. thank u

I agree with Ambar, I think this movie was in the right direction. It should be appreciated for what the future of hindi movies can be. There have been more absurd movies in India than this, like KHNH, that has been super hit. It is about time that Indian audience should move away from SRK type romantic movies, which is pretty much same. Same story line, same acting and same names.

should no doubt win an award..................as the biggest upset
by Shan G. on Aug 05, 2004 03:20 AM
hi BG, please tell me u didn't just say Rudraksh is better than KHNH (kal ho na ho)!!!! LOL
you wanna see the future of indian movies? a step in the right direction? watch Samay. Rudraksh SUCKED...i kept waited for them to explain what the whole thing was about, kept jumping from point to point...as if the writer had brainstormed and left it at that. he becomes bad at the end...why whould the Rudraksh (being evil) have sunjay dutt (most powerful) at the end and then let him go? wait, don't even answer causei don't care...this movie should win an award...in the comedy department for it made me laugh at how stupid an indian movie can be...if i was the writer, i'd shoot myself before releasing it.

we go to bond movis for a different reason...
by does not matter on Feb 28, 2004 07:32 AM
hellow there, now of we go to a james bond movie, do we expect the 007 to have bruises on his face after the plane crash. NO.. because we go to the movie to see him dive off the moountain and see him only rearrange his necktie as if it was no big deal. that is what bond films are about.... a charming agent fit to be seen on fridays while having a beer. the director does not attempt to make you believe that it can be true. but when you attemt something like Rudraksh and want people to be convinced, then you better do a good job at convincing the viewers. no offence intended mate. have a nice day.

I Fully agree with Ambar. We here go about praising western films like Matrix and The Mummy series......while our own similar film Rudraksh is criticized no end. It was a wonderful attempt and even the story was amazing....somethin to ponder on.....
Great Attempt by Mani Shankar...brave attempt and I would like more p'ple to come and make such films and appreciate these....i.e. if films like Matrix and Mummy deserve any praise...what's wrong with films like Rudraksh!!!!

very good movie, i did not know lot of things of ramayana's background and essential part of how rawan got all the powers in detail that i knew after watching this movie. i really do not care about the cinemagraphy and screenplay similar of hollywood as long as it is done better way which this movie really preserve it. god bless mr. mani shankar and i would like to encourage this kind of director for providing best and interesting stories.i really liked his previous movie "16 december" too. thanks mr mani shankar for making high tech movies.

Dwapar Yug before Treta Yug???
by Kanu on Feb 16, 2004 12:07 PM

Even the research on mythology was not upto mark? Just imagine Amitabh's voice narrating that After Ravan's death, Kaliyug started!!!!!!! Ram was in Treta Yug, after which Krishna was in Dwapar yug and then after Yadavs killed each other, Kaliyug started.
The SFX was very tacky no doubt. even the sets were awful.

Mani Shankar - hopes he improves
by MS on Feb 15, 2004 08:03 PM

I thought December 13 was possibly the worst movie of the year when released. All director Mani could "research" was when Gen. Niazi surrendered to Indian forces. I wouldn't risk watching his second movie.
