We need this film

I totally disagree that we dont need this film when people in UK are enjoying our music and food. They are enjoying our music and food but most of them dont like Indians or particularly south east asians. It is not only in UK but also in US. So this film is defintely needed to show the problems faced by Indians in the west, need not be the same way Sohail portrayed in this film but the reality is RACISM EXISTS IN WEST IN DIFFERENT FORMS.

What exactly does the writer wants to convey?
by Mauneel Desai on Feb 13, 2004 08:07 PM

This is the most rubbish and unrealistic review, I have ever seen in my life. Forget the film. I have not watched the film and I don't care about it. It's about the author's side comments.

First thing, who told the author that there is no racism in UK now? I live in US and there are times when you do face incidents of racism. Many times they are light incidents and can be brushed off. But, depending on certain areas, these incidents can take violent turns. Keeping in mind the fact that US is several thousand times better than UK in such cases, one can only imagine the situation in UK. It's REAL BAD in UK. This all comes out of jealousy. These skinheads are jealous of the fact that all over the world, the Indians are taking over them.

2. The author compares racism with communalism. Well, I would advise the author to go and live in Kashmir if she is worried about certain religious bigots. Or still better, go and live in Pakistan. The author forgets that the type of freedom the muslims are enjoying in India couldn't even be dreamt of in other countries. Pakistan calls the Indian muslims as 'kafirs'. Why does everyone conveniently forgets that?

by gaurav on Feb 13, 2004 07:52 PM

To criticise just for the sake of it is shameful.
