indian films
by lendhay74 on Dec 14, 2004 09:11 PM

First of all you cannot expect every body to like a particular film. India is a large country with a very mixed crowd. These filmmakers make a film and want it to be liked by everyone so they try to add all the usual masalas.
The filmmakers will have to break out of this mould. I am sure you will agree that there viewers at various levels. There are people who would appreciate an arty film and there are people who would appreciate Govinda's fully faltoo film. There are some people who would like to come out of the theatre thinking about the film and there are others who want a complete timepass movie. So if they are trying to please viewers, who are at the opposite end of the spectrum then they are living in fools paradise.

Sheetal

story is important
by gr.siva on Mar 03, 2004 12:06 AM

there is no formulae for making a film a grand success. otherwise all films would have grossed crores of money!!! the arbiter of the film's fate is its story. if it is weak, even SRK OR AB could not save the film. any movie based on a good storyline will surely attract the audiences. a good storyline could be the one that deals common problems and touches real life experiences of public.love is a most common segment of a man's life and in india getting love succeeded over traditional impediments is difficult. this is the reason love stories touch the audience,if it is narrated well. though the characters are shown royal,as against the real life, movies with main theme of love and affection between its lead, succeeds. moreover audience won't accept copying a movie they have already seen. that's why movies with quite usual storyline are rejected. films with anti -corruption theme gets fair success throughout india because corruption is prevalent in india and everyone gets exposed to it.at the sametime such movies are highly unlikely to get a success in hollywood! certain action movies with logical and technically sound action sequences pull audience just by the thrill it provides.

Look at the Moives again!!
by Anita on Feb 26, 2004 06:00 AM

Your question's answer seems to be quite obvious to me.The moives you are comparing first of all have no comparison, if that is a comparison you are drawing. Munabhai MBBS, had a good story line, good sense of humour and great performances. LOC, lacked good performances, lacked story, lacked focus and had unneccessary songs. Tere Naam also had good performances, and a good and simple storyline which was well displayed. Where as Main Prem ki Diwani hoon, had horrible performances from the lead characters and horrible outfits. Ishq Vishq, good story, simple movie, great humour, nice new faces, freshness and overall good performances. Khushi..no comments, it had Kareena Kapoor it was meant to flop!!

I suggest you see those movies again which say "flopped" opposed to those that were a "hit". The flops lack storyline firstly and good performances and general public appeal, which may have lacked in Maqbool and Pinjar.

On the whole, the audience appreciates a combination of good performance, good balance of characters, good balance of emotions and a good story line. The audience would recoginze these characteristics of any movie, not only sex and nude women sell a film.

target women and kids for a hit
by Neel on Feb 10, 2004 11:32 PM

The bottom line is if you are able to target women and kid, then film is a hit. Women is general loves to be in dream world than real world. It is clear from success of Koi Mil gaya. Good movies like Pinjar and Khakee and to some extent LOC fails as they show real world and are meant for thinking people, who are unfortunately few in numbers

Tere Naam deserve to be a HIT!
by Rahul on Feb 09, 2004 08:52 PM

There is no parental opposition, nor is there a rich versus poor angle, nor does it look at two different religions or caste differences, also there is no third lover popping up from somewhere.

TERE NAAM primarily revolves around two simple characters. Two believable characters. The reasons that bring them together are realistic and the conflict that ensues is equally convincing. This factor is its USP.

Do i need to say more about theis classic film.

by Raj on Feb 09, 2004 08:47 PM

Tere Naam is prob. the best love story ever in Bollywood. Salman Khan did so wicked in the film, i hope he wins an award for Tere Naam. Tere Naam had to be a HIT or the Indian people doesn't know good films.
