article correction

Thanks for giving more mainstream appeal to D. I. S. C. O. :)
The song from SAAHEB was "Yaar bina chain kahan re". "Pyaar bina chain kahan re" was the second line of the song.
The SANAM TERI KASAM song was "jaane jaan o meri jaane jaan" not "Janejaan o meri jaanejaan".
The NAMAK HALAAL song was "Jawani janeman" not "Jawan janeman".
Just being pedantic:)

Sukanya, you surprised me. I am follower of Hindi music since many years and I really appreciate the kind of details you have covered or comments you have made on some of the movies, their makers and their music. It difficult to find people like you.
Good work!

very good detailing
by Gaurav on Feb 04, 2004 03:06 PM

The article is well composed with indepth detailing gone into the writing. Solid substance, good content. That's what matters at the end of the day. substance over content.

Not such a great stuff...

Disco songs in the late 70s and early 80s represent the obvious degration Hindi film music post Rajesh Khanna era. There is nothing much to cheer about them. As the music directors, in general (barring a few respectable exceptions) were put to backseat in the "dhishum - dhishum" era, the melody gave way to such crap like Ouva Ouva and Boom Boom. These were neither melodious nor exactly in the catagory of classic western Rock. It was just the half hearted poor attempt to ape the western music. Please do not drag RD into it. He was of different genre and class of his illustrious predecessors such as Dada Burman, OP Nayyar and Shanker Jaikishan.
