Harold & Kumar Vs The Village
by Raghu on Aug 17, 2004 02:27 AM

Going to see "The village " is like giving a thief a
100$....... it was really a nice con game played by
Shyamalan, giving such hype to such a stupid
movie.I respect him as a director in "the Sixth
sense" .....but that does not mean you woo the
audience with something that you had done
before.
I would ask you guys to go watch Harold and
Kumar, it is one blast of a movie. I really enjoyed
it.

Thinking aloud about the latest Top 10 grossers
by Ameet Barve on Aug 03, 2004 01:09 PM

Well, you have to look at the quality of the cinema as well, outside of the influence of its monetary performance. King Arthur is a very good movie, even with an ensemble cast such as the little known Clive Oven in the lead, and Kira Knightley who is only now a star in the making. However, you can always rely Shyamalan inspite of the absence of sustained starpower. Then again one could not seriously have expected Catwoman to last out, all it has is a sexy lead and special effects. And then again competing with the likes of spiderman 2 which has already made its mark via the first movie. There were other players like Jason Bourne, but here people who come mostly come expecting to see what they read in the book and one must admit that they are invariably disappointed. No denying that Matt Damon in the lead is nothing short of brilliant, but the moviegoers simply dont get what the seek from the character. I, Robot is fairly elegant in its technical makeup and Will Smith is impressive. The story line though actually pretty deep, does come through as such. All you are left with are Smith's antics and passe' special effects. The 'also rans' do not merit comment. SO there you have it.

It's a non-sense film
by Madhu on Aug 03, 2004 08:10 AM

I wonder how a film like The Village can earn so much money. It's a rubbish film. Firstly, the director was not clear the time of the story. The blind girl is motivated by love and manages to cross the woods and come across a Corp with a walky-talky. Is this world not aware of the existence of such a village in this developed world? Shyamalan might have made successful films! But with this film he is really stupid. Perhaps he would spoil whatever the reputation he heard in the past. Despite all stupidity the audio effects and photography are impressive. I bet Ramgopal Varma can make much better horror films!

Shymalan's Village
by Nazir Patel on Aug 03, 2004 04:39 AM

One just has to read the reviews posted on the Yahoo
movies message board for Village and there are many
clearly upset with Shyamalan. Many went to see the movie but came away cheated and disappointed. Many wanted their money back. They did praise the acting of Ron Howard's daughter playing the role of a blind girl.

its a most ridiculous n haywire scripted movie i have ever seen..i fail to understand whether the director wanted to make a comedy, horror or just sheer nonsense...ITS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME....people expected so much from the director which is evidenced by its earnings in first 3 days ...but no more....
