This is really a very brave attempt by Amol. All these years Marathi Drama was widely known and acclaimed. Hope this makes Marathi Cinema also as wide and popular.
Congrats Amolji for making a marathi movie .We/I want that Marathi movies should become popular not only in India but also in foreign countries , and I know they r going to get popular when a person like is there
To me it looks like as if Amol ji is also following Sudhir Mishra's footsteps who last said 'tell me the director who does not want his films to have a box office success". This article seemed something like Amol is also making this film for the commercial cinema. But its good to keep changing the tracks with time, like Shayam Benegal ji did the same with Zubeida. But at the same time Amol ji shares a good rapport outside India, his films has fans in Bangladesh, Canada, Europe and Pakistan as well so don't you think that a film in Marathi will have a very limited audience, because sub-titiling sometimes does not give you that charm which a complete movie can provide. But in short, all the best to our Golmal Amol Palekar Ji.
The place the movie was shot is "Hospet" not "hosbet". It is in Bellary district of North Karnataka. This place was kingdom was Vijayanagar empire ruled by likes of Krishna Devaraya.
I dont know why the author is so hung up over Ms Bendre's marathi diction. She is maharashtrian, for heaven's sake- born and brought up in India.
One would rather reserve the marathi diction accolades for Anant Nag- who is not (I presume) Maharashtrian.
But mostly, the focus of this article should have been on the story, the direction and the acting. It seems to me that the scribe failed to see the forest for the trees.
