Living in the US we are able to rent Indian movies as they are being released in India. I recently became a Bollywood fan and am addicted to Indian Cinema. I read all the film magazines so I can become aquainted with the stars names and what future films are coming. The reason I am writing this is because I was very excited about the release of BOOM and waited anxiously for months for the release. The two minute trailer had me at the rental store handing over $20 to purchase the film istead of renting it first...what a mistake that was! Instead of beautiful fashion show sequences with great dancing and glossy cinematography spiced with underworld excitement we get one fashion show and grainy lifeless photography with pointless shock value dialogue and models who don't look to hot off the runway that can't act. What a disappointment especially when the idea of the movie had so much going for it,but the screenwriter didn't know where to find it. The director thought he needed to make a Westernized film, but I choose to watch Indian films for the way they are...that's what makes them so special. If I want to watch a film like BOOM I'd be buying American films.
