Yeah I like the movie but.......
by Ajay on Jan 11, 2004 08:09 PM

Yes I like the movie for good direction...and good photography....since the same director made the serial Chanakya..which was great...but he could've used better script than Aprita Pritam's.....can we move on from this pre partition crap -- oh Hindu Muslims used to live side by side and now they dont 'cuz of the partition..although our music, cluture etc is same -- its not gonna go back to be like that again....so stop dreaming Mr. Gulzar and Amrita Pritam and move on to real issues....I would love stuff that intrigues my mind....but the stuff that is factually correct and not biased.....Thanx...
Jai Hind....Ajay........

Good stuff but can we move on from this Gulzar, Amrita Pritam crap......
by AJay on Jan 11, 2004 08:02 PM  | Hide replies

It was a good movie...definitely better than 1947 Earth by Deepa Mehta......the problem is, that we have seen lot of movies on partition and it was painful time for people invloved in it....but when people like Gulzar and Amrita Pritam use these partition stories to depict that people of both communities got burnt in this carnage...but there is a always a hint that Hindus should have behaved more responsibly.....why cant these people write in a more unbiased manner?? In this movie...a muslim...who has kidnapped a Hindu girl, has a change of heart, yes AFTER he kidnaps her...and then conservative hindus dont accept her back...so result -- Muslims although they can kidnap a girl to settle family feuds..could be good people at heart...Hindus...conservative people...couldn't take their daughter back...'cuz their family honor would be tarnished...conclusion..
her family is blamed for the situation Puro is in..when reality is its the whole unfortunate situation... and its unfortunate the women comeout the loser in the end.....but please I'm tired of these one sided views of these so called intellectuals (Amrita Pritam esp), who dont see how moral they are and question others morality..

Such a great performance by Urmila cannot be expressed in words. Urmila is now adopting mature performances.

Pinjar : Another run of the mill stuff ..
by A Mattoo on Nov 06, 2003 05:23 PM  | Hide replies

I found Pinjar a rather boring and it really nauseated me with an overdose of emotions.I cannot find any reason why Mr Tripathi found this film good and watchable. The songs are hummable but cannot make up for the faulty story line of the movie.I guess Indian cinema has a long way to go before it starts making some sensible movies.Till then indian movie fans can only wait...

I think Mr. Mattoo must have been out of his mind when writing this. He calls this movie "run of the mill" when the movie is unlike any other movie and the story line as "faulty" even though it is based on a classic by Amreeta Pritam. Its not Indian cinema but audiences like you, who need to go a long way before they can appreciate a good movie.
Till then we can also wait...

an absolute wonder

This is probably the best hindi movie I ever saw. Everything else is watered down, but the scenes between the lead pair are breathtaking. stamp of amrita preetam all over the duo's dialog, but the performances only adds to their force.

Pinjar - Movie of the month (if not year)
by Kambakth_Babloo on Nov 03, 2003 03:54 PM

Watched Pinjar movie this weekend. Superb movie. Commendable job by the director. Long way to go. I never imagined... Urmila could potray such an intense character. Brillian work by Urmila and Bajpai. If this movie doesn't get 5 out of 5, then none could.
