Not good comparison....
by Krithika Rangarajan on Oct 19, 2003 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

The writer has falsely compared Barjatya's heroine with Aditya's heroine......

1) The circumstances surrounding Simran's dialogue ("Take me away from here Raj") and Nisha's conduct (marrying her brother-in-law) is different. Simran's father is a strict guy who has no intention of breaking his vow. Hence, Simran loses hope and appeals to Raj that they should elope and get married - she finds no other way out.

In comparison, Nisha's father is not strict - he doesn't even know that his younger daughter is in love with his elder daughter's DEVAR. If he had known I am sure he would have consented to their marriage (as he does in the end)....he had nothing against Nisha getting married to Prem! Nisha could have also eloped but that would have broken the hearts of her beloved parents who are already distraught due to their elder daughter's death.....imagine, if SImran's sister had died - would she have still appealed to Raj in the same way? NO, I DON'T THINK SO!

Do not just make comparisons with no proper reasoning! It seems that you have brought in Barjatya just to put him down - but you have done it falsely....please be unbiased when you write reviews!

Afterall DDLJ is far better than HAHK.

I saw HAHK just once and I felt as if some marrige function is going on. It was pathetic.
There is no story-line to the movie. All the story it had takes place in the last 20-25 minutes. The movie is full of 14 songs,Salman khans BAKWAAS commedy and all the other FALTOO family drama. The pace of the movie is also very slow.
songs are OK but not as good as DDLJ's 7 melodious songs.
Audiences come in theaters to get entertained and not to get bored.Watching HAHK is a punishment to the audiences.
On the other hand DDLJ is full of fun, love, emotions, climax and exellent performances.
The movie locations are superb. All the songs are truly meaningful, melodious and absolutely situation based.
The performances from shahrukh, kajol, amrish puri and farida jalal are mind blowing.
DDLJ is a great movie in 90's give new dimensions to youth's hope and father concepts.
DDLJ is far better than HAHK in all the aspects.

Last but not the least the movie confirms to its name "DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE"

Would you tell me What is the meaning of "HUM AAPKE HAI KAUN"

The name itself is commedy.

It is purely biased comparioson. How can Suman and Nisha be compared with Simran. Situations were entirely different. For Nisha nobody was against the marriage. Suman's father was not against the marriage but he put some condiation before Prem. Fianly it was fulfilled and there was happy ending.
If Author has this comparison then I am having this(I don't want to comment but forced to do this).

I would like to ask MS Chopra isn't here exactly things are same but roles are changed. Why Shaharukh denied to runaway. If a Hindusatani scoundrel like Raj can simply left Simran and other's expectations due to his mother's lessons for life then why can't Nisha and Suman. Has author read Indian history. A man is not supposed to do like this what Raj was trying to do. From my point of view climax of DDLJ was its weakest point. Although there was happy ending but it was not filmed the way as whole film was done.

Why author is so against Sooraj Brijatya I don't know. I think it is merly to make here points more and more strong, otherewise how can she prove DDLJ as trend making film. If DDLJ desevre some book on it then HAHK better deserve book on it. Lets wait for book on HAHK.

I met hundereds of people who say DDLJ is crap movie and same is true for HAHK. You are also one of them. I can also say all the thingsfor DDLJ which you have said about HAHK, but there will be no gain. Both movies have their own positive and negative points. Both are among biggest blockbuster of Indian cinema history. For your information here are some points.

1)HAHK music is very good and melodious. All songs are soul of movie. Its music is among the highest selling music of Indian cinema history,u can confirm it from nearest old msic shop. I think it is the only movie whose songs became more popular after its release.

2)HAHK was liked much more than DDLJ. If u don't beleive me than see box office earning and thetrical run for all India. It celebrated more than 50 golden jubilee and ran for 100 weeks in 3-4 cities.
If u think it is boring saga of 3 hrs then its okay.

DDLJ also ran much, but left much behind from HAHK all over India. It is running in Maratha Mandir for past 7 years in matinee only where it was not released actually with much less audience. Why couldn't it completed 100 weeks in regular show in Mumbai. How it is running now, you can go and see
