Longest running movie
by S. K. on Oct 14, 2003 01:46 PM  | Hide replies

I saw it 2-3 month back in Maratha Mandir not only one time but tried to have observation for one month. On best(weekend and holidays) it was drawing 20% audience and for worst I don't know. But they say it is still going houseful or at least 65%. But on Sundays I found some other movie running instead of DDLJ. How can be it longest running movie while it is being screened only in Matinee from the begining. As far as I know DDLJ was moved from some other theatre to Maratha Mandir in matinee show only. Ticket price were reduced as low as Rs. 9,11,13 where as normal price are Rs 40,50,60. Why? If it had to break Sholay'srecord then It must had to run 3 yrs in regular shows in Maratha mandir. Which milestone is left behind long time back. If it is so successful then why it is being screened only in Matinee for past 7 years. I have seen success of HAHK and DDLJ very well. Except this matinee show run in Mumbai DDLJ is much behind HAHK. There is no comparision of it with Sholay. HAHK is only comparable with Sholay. Can author tell me any theatre in north India where DDLJ run more than HAHK. DDLJ is being run forcefully to make record.Author should not ignore HAHK for her own favour.

Anupama Chopra on her book
by Virendra Varma on Oct 08, 2003 05:44 PM

I have read Anupama's book on the making of Sholay. It was very absorbing - the fact that one had seen Sholay several times and that one loved the film helped no doubt. But it was not only that. There were many other things. The details were unfurled in a very easy conversational style. The language was racy. It felt like one was listening to her narration. I look forward to reading this one on DDLJ, which is also a favourite with me!

Other Ending
by Shyamprasad Reddy on Oct 08, 2003 05:21 PM

I bought a CD in Malaysia and was pleasantly surprised to
find that in the end Sanjeev Kumar ends up killing Gabbar.

Why cannot Ramesh Sippy think of releasing this ending in Theatres all over ....I would think people would come down and see the Movie again - I am pretty
sure
