Today, when music companies remix that song and reproduce it, I feel very sad for her and my music I am a diehard fan of Indian film songs and even I am upset at the way the industry bigwigs have turned a blind eye to what is happening to so many of the classic hits from the past. What is painful is the fact that we hear these remix in voices that I dub , besuri awaaz. The pros of that is that it makes one appreciate the original singer. But just why should these remix compositions be allowed a commercial release ? I say " NO" I do not mind if someone renders a remix on a live concert but I call for a full stop to this madness when remix are released as music videos. Truth Hurts by using Lata's original voice ( except for failing to give her credit) did the honourable thing than the ones who are spoling her hits such as Baahon Main Chale Aao etc. It is time that producers and directors like Yash Chopra, the Johars , The Barjatya's , Bhansali , RGV and others in the industry put a stop to this. And what about the music directors ? Doesn't Anu Malik and Rehman care about what can happen to their compostions ? Wake up.
Uma Devi (Tun Tun ) will be missed. I saw her funny side in a old movie I was watching just two months ago. However as I pay tribute to her it is her song I will cherish. Just one song ,Afsaana likh rahin hoon, will always remain a memorable one , one that will keep her legacy alive. We have songs these days but very few that will remain classics. And Uma gave us an Afsana to remember forever. Bless her soul.
