Dear Sir,
It is not very clear from the title whether this list shows the name of all time great directors or the name of the existing or active directors.
If it is a list of all time greatest then definitely it is a farce, as a lot of great names ar missing, like Kurosawa, Attenborough, Fellini, Eigenstein, Bertolucci, Satyajit Ray, where are they in the list?
Regards
Saptarshi Ray

Sad, none of the Indian directors are in this list though India alone enjoys the highest number of movie releases whilst compared to the rest of the world.

Rediff should refrain from printing whatever comes into view just to fill-up-the-gap. Rediif pages are filled up with too much junk stuff lately. Who the damn care about some low grade publicity seeking journal's ratings of film directors when it can't see directors like Satyajit Ray, Steven Spielberg, Mrinal Sen, Ridley Scott!!

Here are a few that should have figured in your " non inclusions" list: Peter Weir,Francis Ford Coppola, Robert Zemeckis, Roman Polanski, Miguel Litin, George Lucas, M. Night Syamalan,...... And having just watched The Matrix-Revolutions, The Guardian's inclusion of The Wachowski brothers is a joke.
What else can you expect from someone like Malcolm;being politically correct as always.I don't think anyone of these "included" Directors will even admit to themselves that they are better than Steven Spielberg.
