The death of the Father of Hindi Film Music - Anil Biswas
by DR PADMANABH K. JOSHI on Jun 04, 2003 09:56 AM

The Father of Hindi Film Music passed away. Anilda was a genius, innovative and experimental Music Director. He introduced the concepts of orchestration, melody and counter melody in Hindi Film Music. His most valuable contributions among others was introducing the concept of "Voice Culture" but unfortunately except Lata Mangeshker no other singer learned it!!! He introduced Talat Mehmood, Sahir Ludhianvi and Mukesh to the Film Industry. Let us hope that the new generation of the music directors as well as singers learn from his contributions. Let us pray that His soul rest in peace. Dr Padmanabh K. Joshi

Anil Biswas

We are all mortal, and sooner or later all have to go.
However such mortals who leave an impact on a large number of human beings by virtue of their dedication and hard work, as Anil Biswas, the great composer, are not too many. His passing away is a big loss to the music world. May his soul rest in peace, and prayers that God grant patience to the aggrieved family.
I am somewhat ignorant on the subject, and would very much like to see a list of Anilda's great compositions. If someone could guide me where to find this list, I shall appreciate it very much.
Best regards
Akbar Ahmed

Passing away - Anil Biswas- The Guru of Gurus
by Dinkar R.K on Jun 01, 2003 08:09 PM

Why do such Great Personalities pass away !If they do , their passing away should be kept secret, oh, thats no fair either ! Its just the sad feeling compelling me to write this way.

I have no doubt the whole NATION , especially , those who love the INDIAN MUSIC, apart from living Legends like Lata Mangeshkar and alike, have lost guiding star whereas the upcoming talents have lost just that GREAT PERSON, whose compositions remain an eternal inspiration to all.

May God Rest his soul in Peace !

Dinkar
