Well, just wanted to say that the rediff people have denied my message to be posted---agreed it was bitter but I think...it was perfectly justified for the movie Bhooth is---I can explain it in one word probably --"ABYSMAL"

Anticlimax !!!
by Nikhil Jain on Jun 26, 2003 01:10 AM

Though the concept of Ramgopal verma was good but still the movie ended in anticlimax. I think in most of the jindi horror movies..same thing occurs. Rape then Revenge. Nothing new in this movie despite of the fact that it doesn't have vulgar scenes and a multistarer movie. Only the climax was a let down part of the movie.

SHAME ON YOU RAMGOPAL VARMA!!!
by payal on Jun 25, 2003 02:53 PM  | Hide replies

For all those people who havent seen Exorcist in a long time.DO see the film and dont be shocked with the clonish effect it has.I cannot believe that Ramgopal Varma even ripped off the discussion on the head being turned the other way with the inspector. In the Excorsist they dont show the head turned. My genius director decided to do so here. How original. The problem is we all remember seeing the Exorcist in the past but havent seen it in recent times to remember.Shocking from someone who is capable of much more.SEE EXORCIST TO BELIEVE WHAT A RIPP OFF BHOOT IS.After watching BHOOT and seeing the striking similarities Ramgopal varma falls in the category of the Mukesh Bhatts and Guddu Dhanoas who shamelessly ripp off films and proclaim their sucess in the media.SHAME ON YOU.

Verma lifted the story ..........
by Diya Nair on Jun 25, 2003 10:10 AM

If u have seen the National Award winner Malayalam movie 'Manichitratazhu', then there will be no doubt left in your mind that 'Bhoot' is a pure lift fr the same. If u wanna know what direction is all about, then get hold of a CD of the aforesaid malayalam movie & watch it.

I swear u will not regret watching it !!!

Good move

as everyone is not perfect, but atleast RGV have guts to remove songs and then make movie. i think intention of RGV was not to explore rekha/tanuja by their names but he wanted to explore character,so he just gave them roles but time was according to characer. may be im very big fan of RGV so few wrong things i m not able to see , but again it was very good movie ..
although i personally think , when i saw 'Raat' on TV, was scarier than Bhoot on Hall, so if RGV can just add some sound in Raat and re-release it then i think it will be better than it ... 'Raat' was movie which was made before time people were not matured and didn't accepted it at that time , but camera work and concept was really good then .

anyways RGV , we are waiting for other stuff from ur side soon !!!
bye

Are you all serious!!!!!

I can't believe my own eyes....is this movie really a hit??????. First of all...I expect a little more "logic" and explaination from this movie considering it is doing well....and we have a long list of characters who don't have anything related to the abysmal story, the maid servant, the psychiatrist, and the old lady with the rudraksh mala. It somehow seems like Mr.RGV had promised roles to these people and thats why they are in the movie..not because the movie needed it. Then of course the repetitive "supposed to be scary" music and the chair, the lift, Mr. Devgan's office duties and the beach----5 min into the movie I knew this was another take of Kaun in which nothing happens till the end 5 min of the movie. I don't think this comes in league with any of the good hollywood horror movies at all. Infact, one can see glimpses of exorcist, etc in the movie. I don't hate Bollywood movies, but its high time since they started making atleast some slick movies....Dil Chahta Hai was the harbinger but I don't see any good followups----I pray some director comes along and gives us some respite.

''bhoot'' as an allegory part two
by Priyedarshi Jetli on Jun 23, 2003 04:33 PM

Here is what Ram Gopal Varma said in an interview: "There is an explanation at the end for all that is going on. The other day I was asked what to expect from Bhoot. I said, fear. All my drama is restricted to press interviews!" (Interview with Subhash K. Jha, May 27, 2003, Rediff.com). So, it is not really fear he is after. The continued shots of the apartment building from outside and the lift from above going down are simply surrealist reminders of the austerity of the lives of millions of flat dwellers in Mumbai, all living in decked up interiors but prisoners of the rectangular match boxes they live in despite their comforts, or because of their comforts. Is there more to life, then living on a high floor, going down the lift, driving out in your car from an underground parking lot, sitting in front of a new computer in a swanky office? No, is the answer that we prefer. What is the explanation in the end that RGV refers to? Each character, except for Fardeen Khan, in the last scene walks off autonomously as if satisfied with her/his perspective guided by strong emotions and intuition. Fardeen remains helpless because of the lack of perspective.
