Simple man, great thoughts...
by Savio on May 30, 2003 09:24 PM

I think Nedimudi Venu is amongst the best actors our country has ever produced and his understanding of the medium places him way above the general mass of mediocre artists that makes up Bollywood! Really wish regional actors like him got an exposure to a wider audience thru such important films...

Someone here mentioned of his frequent reference to his "mundu" as a lack of confidence... I think that just goes to show his humility and simple nature despite his status as an actor of high caliber. In my opinion, having a bunch of fashion designers deciding what you wear every time you step out in public is perhaps more reminiscent of lack of confidence and insecurity than being yourself no matter where in the world you are ;o)

cannes was a humbli ng experience'
by mraina on May 26, 2003 04:37 AM

Just goes to show how much cinema consciousness exists in the west. Wonder how many of us would be patient cineates in our country. We dont even appreciate our own directors like Ray,how can we respond to really good cinema.Mustnt we have cinema education courses in our institutions?Should we not have a real national film awareness campaign that steers us away from the horrendous films like Lagaan towards good cinema.

Once Again Malayalam

This item on Nedumudi Venu's experience at Cannes
opens a stream of thoughts for Indian Cinema.
Nedumudi, one of the best actors in India is not
recognised in his mother country as he is not a northIndian who speaks Hindi.Whereas in Cannes the
French people gave him the respect he deserves.
It is high time to stop giving Hindi films the undue
importance .

Nedumudi's saga
by Pradeep on May 25, 2003 08:05 PM

It is a matter of fact that Nedumudi venu is an actor of versatility. Even though given a small frame of malayalam cinema to content with, he grew above them and make all malayali's and all India proud.
His powress in acting is not known much to outside world even though every malayali knows that.
Let cannes be the way to honor, project this world class actor to International audience

that's not true!
by aditi on May 25, 2003 04:20 PM

there were other films from the india too at cannes.
anyway. whatever it was i feel this cannes festival got too much spotlight for nothing.
aishwarya rai looked disgusting in her atrocious clothes. will someone please tell her to have some sensibility back into her head. secondly i am surprised with a person like aishwarya selected for jury i am sure the very capability of the festival can be defined. she's made india look like a laughing stock over there.
about the film being talked about in this article, hats off to you people. congrats.
the media should give more coverage to such outstanding people who've actually made it there other than some nymph who's a sham
