Steal and flaunt it
by joshielevathingal on May 21, 2003 10:54 PM

Despite stealing scenes, dialogues etc from hit films ,our bollywoodwallas are able to dish out only TRASH.
One can only imagine what the viewer has to endure when "ORIGINAL" movies are made.

They are all like failing school boys!

I still remember when watching "Raaz" DVD and its extra section. Vikram Bhatt claimed that it took him 3 years to come up with "proper" script for Raaz and suddenly one night it struck him! Yeah right, suddenly one night, when he saw "What Lies Beneath"! The fact is 80% of the people in film industry right now are dumb people (including actors, directors, script writers, music directors). And those who are telented are thrown aside because those "big" names fear their existance. I couldn't stop but laugh when Anu Malik in recent interview said he could also "sue" Mouline Rouge team for stealing 2 lines from his song! ;)

plagarism

To answer prashant's query, I am sure Barbara has absolutely no belief in the indian legal system, which is a reason why she is talking of an out of court settlement, i don't think it has anything to do with any doubts in her mind, and knowing the copying history, i wish that that serial is banned and the producers made to pay heavily..

Hollywood Copying
by Arjun on May 21, 2003 04:27 PM

It is not only the films like " Jism" (Body Heat) or
Kante (Reservoir Dogs), It is also the soaps on Zee TV and Star that are copies.

Indian visual media industry is gone bonkers . No wonder the foreign viewers are now cancelling their subscriptions to Indian TV channels and aaoiding watching Bollywood films in the cinema

Indian(?) visual media

Please don't drag the regional language movies into the sewage called Bollywood. Atleast, they make original crap and once in a while, some good movies too!

High Time
by vishwesh on May 21, 2003 03:41 PM

Its high time something was done to do away with this sort of blatant plagiarism ;not to mention people like Annu malik saying things like he would sue Baz Luhrman for lifting his Chamma Chamma tune(which is original thank god). would like to see some good stuff in terms of storyline and not the usual latka and jhatka we get to see.

It might be a good idea to check the facts
by Prashanth on May 21, 2003 03:22 PM

If it was a plagarised Script Why is Bradford betting on a out of court settlement??

Kind of confusing right???

Lets check our facts before we categorise all the writers and Directors as thieves of Intelectual Property

Movies blaah blaah
by Rakesh Narayan on May 21, 2003 03:06 PM

Well I find it silly to argue abt copying or not.. I believe there is absolutely nuthin original nowadays.. Sanjay Gupta's Kaante was probably even better than Lagaan , if production, direction and acting are as important as the story. Dil se was an original story and it was awesome but nobody cared. Its unfair to demand original stories, and crores of rupees of effort for nuthin but critical appreciation.
I belive its high time we Indians realised our own worth and stop cringing before the whites.
