You can't fully blame the film makers viz. producers and directors for plagiarism. Though films are source of entertainment for movie goers like me, itz life and food for people who make it. Hence they will do this with a motive of profit. If 7 out of 10 of these so called 'lifted' films are hit normally one would be tempted to invest in such a venture than experimenting crores on something unpredictable. As long as people watch these movies how can someone even complain about such a malady. As far as I know Raaz was a Super hit, so was Kaante and many others too which fared reasonably. Unless we stop falling into this trap how can we blame the movie makers for this. People shd stop watching those movies first. But that is ne'r going to happen and so would a change in the bollywood scripts. Hence I feel any discussion on this is meaningless.

Writing Talents
by Prabhakar Lal on May 23, 2003 03:37 PM

There are lot of writing talents available in India. Only thing these directors have to do is look for works done by Hindi and Regional authors. I am sure they will get lot of original works for their movies.I am also sure that only this step can stop the long list of flops. Out film makers have made a habit of looking west for subjects for their films. It is like the way we have adopted fast food culture and fashion from them. I will advise the film makers to stop reading thriller novels by english writer and look for books written in Hindi or regional language.

I laughed to death, when I heard My big fat greek wedding is a copy of ddlj. This shows how Mr Darshan understands high quality movies. This is why why hemakes terrible movies like he does. My big fat.. is an original flick on greek life in US. I have lot of greek American friens and I knpw that. Again Pearl Harbour is SANGAM, ha ha ha. Mr. Darshan Pearl Harbor is the reason US got involved in WWII. If this is the condition of our directors, what should we expect from them

I agree with the Writer

I totally agree with what Mr Subhash has said. The current state of Bollywood is really bad and it can be seen if you check the latest box office collections. Its simple when I can go and watch the original English film for Rs 100 in 90 minutes then why should I pay the same amount to watch a copied version in 180 minutes. Its just that everyone wants to make quick money without thinking what the subject of the film should be. People in Bollywood need to understand that its the script that works and not the Stars. I think Barbara Bradford should win the case in India against Karishma as this will set the other producers thinking before they copy any other film be it English, Hindi or any South Indian Films. I think the South Indian Film industry is more original than Bollywood. Its high time these copy cats are taught a lesson.
