Before I share my comment, let me throw some light on the name of the interviewer. Probably it is Prem Panicker (mentioned at the top right corner). Or is it not !!
Well..the interview is a very frank and candid one. It also relfects what Indian cinema is capable of and why it is not able to do well in a collective way. Often good quality movies made by not so well-known film-makers get stuck in beurocracy or financial problems. So the serious audience had/has to depend on maestros like Satyajit Ray or Adoor Gopalakrishnan for such movies.
Anyway, I shall look forward eagerly to the release of Nizhalkuthu in India.
this one of the best interviews from any film personalities in the recent times. adoor sir is really down to earth and frank. in a sense this interview has been a learning experience itself. more like this are expected from rediff.com.
Adoor is the maestro of Indian Cinema, who always stood for serious cinema. He was not in the gang of people who made movies just for experiment. He neither belongs to those leagues of commercial buddies who reiterate always that cinema is just for entertainment. In a time when people are forced to believe that crap commercial masalas are the nature of Indian cinema, the efforts of people like Adoor are laudable. Its a pity that we dont have a system to bring these movies to mass
Hi, Its great pleaseure to seen Mr. Adoor Gopalkrishan's interview at Rediff site. It will be more helpful to youger generation in film industtry. He is unbeatable man have good ideas and thought in behind his films.
It is sad that films of good directors like adoor are not screened in India. A candid interview and it was heartening to read that adoor thinks there are still talented dirctors in India. We desperately need some talented directors to get a break from the chopra's,gai's.
adoor is a very candid & frank person... his views on various issues are thought provoking & well respected in all the circles... it was a refreshing experience to read this interview.. hope there are more such interviews in the offing. by the by...y can't u tell us the interviewee's name...even after so many queries??
It was a pleasure reading the interview with Adoor. I was most impressed by the well constructed questions posed to Adoor. Now why in the world would you not include the interviewer's name?
Good interview. Especially the way he is brought in to deal with the subject of the Malayalam movies of the sixties and seventies. Possibly one area where you left out was the new art emerging with films like Maranasimhasam and AGs reactions to that. Why was the name of the interviewer left out? Deliberate?
Thanks for the excellent interview with Adoor, the master filmmaker. It was a candid interview where he opened up to share a wealth of information. As opposed to a typical Bollywood director's interview, which is usually superfluous and aimed to be a marketing exercise for a new film, this one was definitely in a different league.
By the way, WHY DEPRIVE THE INTERVIEWER of his credits? Who's the interviewer?
