why do u always look for faults in the southern film industry when there is thousands of flaws in the north. . . well it is rite that their films are flopping but that does not mean that their carrier is over...

Mohanlal - 2 National Awards
Mamootty - 3 National Awards

Shah Rukh Khan - 0 National Awards
Aamir Khan - 0 National Awards

what else do u want . . . age is not a criteria . . .

quit acting
by maneesh nair on Mar 22, 2003 09:44 PM

Its really high time for the old guys like Lal and Mamooty to quit the seen and why dont they give way for young talents. Those old are just damaging the whole film industry right now by acting in such one man show films like narasimham and on.

Appoose
Plz save malayalam superstar
by Appoose on Mar 20, 2003 01:20 AM

I was watching Mohnalal's latest film Mr.Brmahachari. The reason why their (superstar's) films are flopping where written all around it. Coz I couldnt find anything called a script. It was nothing but a compilation of the scenes that where apprecaited by the auidence in the past. But now these scenes have lost its orginality, as well as charm. When mohanlal did a rowdy role in devasuram or even in aaram thamburam because of it was presenting something that audience where not used to, it became popular among them. But when u have the n number of clones of the same old stuff, itz totally lack of intelleigence to assume that audience will continue to enjoy it. I am very big admirer of Mohanlal. And I really find it disguisted how our directors are reducing him to a stereotype. A requeset to future directors, "be honest and courageous", for the sake of "your film", "our superstars", "audience" . What we need is not another aaram thamburan or narashimam, what we need is a new good film.

Mr. Jim Josekutty,
I just wanted to make a correction in your article. Kilukkam, as you mentioned, is not a Priyadarshan-MohanLal-Sreenivasan film. The film has been scripted by Venu Nagavalli & Priyan himself.

Fate of Malayalam superstars
by aneeta & saji on Mar 18, 2003 01:32 PM

Change is inevitable;as such, it is better to face it graciously. So, since the talent and massive appeal of these superstars cannot be denied even today, it is in the interests of everyone if they don more becoming roles and take on newer domains, instead of sticking to the 'hero' mould

Mohanlal

Lal and Mammootty will be here for another
decade as there are no other younger generation
with their talent. But they should be choosy of
their scripts and should know the pulse as
they have not recently. Even Dileep is just like
Jayaram and I don't think he can do serious or
action roles like these both stars.

let them die their natural deaths
by dennis on Mar 17, 2003 05:36 PM

My dear directors, why you people are again and again forcing this toothless lions upon the pooor keralites? Let them die their natural deaths! They are aged and we can never see them as romantic heroes. They are now suitable only for aged roles, though i would agree that they are terrific actors when it comes to quality. But what to do.....that is the principle of both reel and real life: Nothing is eternal, not even the screen presence!

Anil Kuamr.J
Superstars by the public.
by Anil Kuamr.J on Mar 17, 2003 12:10 PM

Superstars of the public, by the public.

No, I think the public more then, the stars have to be blamed for the situation there are in. The public for they were the ones who made these actors superstars, who made their films super hits.It was the public who until two years back used to make every film they act a hit, what ever be the role of the actor, a lover boy, an unemployed youngster or a savior of the public, etc. Then how come in two years you ask them to grow old and do only roles of fathers or uncles. Come on 'PUBLIC', give them some time to adjust to your demands and come to terms with the situation. You dont write of two superstars who ruled the malayalam film industry for more than 20 years, for giving 2 or 3 flop movies in two years.Even Amitabh Bachan took 4 to 5 years to adjust to the peoples demands after his come back. So give them time we will wait and watch.
