What option do we have to watch English movies then?
by Gaurav on Mar 18, 2003 08:00 AM

Living in India, I hardly ever rent pirated Hindi movies as I feel I could pay slightly more and go watch it in a movie theatre. But what option do I have incase I want to watch a Hollywood flick. In places like Bombay & Delhi, many English and international movies do make it to the theatres, but what about places which are not as big. The only way to watch such a movie then is to rent the pirated VCDs that are available pretty easily, and cost only Rs.25-30 a night.

Piracy ? Ha Ha Ha
by Arun Kurian on Mar 16, 2003 08:41 PM

Excellent point made by 'kiran' above, how would you report piracy to pirates ?
And does MPAA care about hindi movies, that is what Mr. Oberoi is crying about, isn't it ? MPAA's concerns are for Hollywood movies, and they care s*** about the copy cats. Hmm, it doesn't make sense !
So it means hindi film's bigwigs are such idiots after all, thank god, they haven't changed !

redefining piracy
by kiran on Mar 15, 2003 01:03 AM

intresting isnt it , when the hindi movie producers flick the script s of english movies or from one of successful regional movies, its not piracy but creativity, when old hindi songs are remixed and repackaged with raunchy vedios , again its creativity not piracy.

video piracy
by devraj on Mar 15, 2003 12:49 AM

i think the film makers should concentrate on making better films. if the movie is really good, people will go to the theatres to watch it.
when the piracy is reported from some small towns the producers and distributors don't care much. they don't think it is worthwhile to go there to fight against the piracy. so, what is the point? i know this because it has happened in my town.

who the hell wants to pay $8 for crap
by Fookat Chand on Mar 14, 2003 11:48 PM

When was the last time a really good Bollywood movie was released? Ok I agree some movies are worth it, but most of them are melodramatic (Yash "Ca$h-in" Chopra), jingoistic (Sunny Deols over the top "screw-Pakistan" movies) or braindead crap (the rest of the stuff)

And as long as I can get to watch them for cheap, I don't care... I ain't here to fill the coffers of them Bollywood bozos

And what about Mumbaiyaa film industry's shameless PLAGIARISM?

They lift movies from Hollywood left and right and remake them in the worst form.

Sounds to me like -- ultaa chor kotwal ko daante!

Indian Movie Piracy
by Suresh Bhat on Mar 14, 2003 10:39 PM

Indian movies, especially Hindi movies have lost their moral values as these days movies are remake from English or any other local language. These movies carry so much profanity in language, the question is, is it really worth making such movies and secondly is it worth spending time on stopping piracy of these kind of movies. Bollywood should be shut down totally.

Suresh.
