Deepa Gahlot seems to have a taliban view on exposure by women.

The article is a matter of fact in totality and if even such clear depiction of the prevalent male mindset does'nt provoke some change then we are perhaps totally mindless. My felicitations to the writer.

Are we confusing sex with nudity here? There is no sex in Indian film. Only partial nudity which is quite similar to the flicks made by those cheap low budget porno companies for the jobless in his basement.

And the violence...Watching those ripped stunts from Hollywood hits like the one's from the "Matrix" can only make me laugh at the director and the producer of the Indian version. The very fact that producers have to copy stunts, ideas & now even complete movie themes from international hits & classics to attract crowds to the cinema halls shows lack of talent & creativity in our country when it comes to performance arts. The amount of money spent on making these movies could be utilised for making quality films that stand out from today's hopeless cinema. It's sad how the well funded directors are the ones who are talentless and don't have a brain to come up with their "own" ideas. And then they promote their offspring with the money they earn. And believe me, I know the difference between a realist and a pessimist. Try looking at "Bollywood" from an outsider's perspective, and you'll know what I mean.

What a load of crap!! Criticism of the films was ok, but criticism of the actresses went overboard. And Kareena Kapoor exposing is OK because she is talented... first of all, isn't that a matter of opinion and second , you are only contradicting yourself.

Sexy Anytime .....

Deepaji,

Wish there were more like you that could bring this filmi industry of ours to realise that "sex" sells anywhere but depciting in films does only bring this in reality like the recent cases of rape, abduction and so forth that has been taking place of more in our country. Give some moral understanding to people so as to bring the good and not the "bad" in individuals.

Please be clear about what you want to criticize

There's only one piece of suggestion to Deepa Gahlot - please give up your hypocritic mentality.
The article is full of contradictory statements and you appear to be highly confused about what you actually wanted to write about. At one place you say - sex sells, at another place you point out that 'Ishq vishq(a hit) used 'Karva Chauth' (which is pretty 'non-sexy'?) to turn the hero's affections in the heroine's favour(which actually didn't happen in the movie). I suggest you watch movies a little more carefully especially since that is your bread and butter.
In a previous article of yours about more or less the same topic, you had badly bashed up Kareena's 'navel-baring' act, now you say she is talented. For your record, Bipasha hardly stripped for Raaz, but the movie succeeded mainly due to her, which I suppose says that she has talent. Evevn Lara Dutta and Priyanka acted their part as required, at least, they were not stony like Aishwarya in her first movie.
Lastly, you said, "the really huge hits are 'clean family entertainers'". Ironically, the films that you mentioned in your article - 'Andaz' and 'ishq Vishq' are also big hits!
How about a alternative career Deepa?
