This movie had so much subtle stuff going on.. that people like Deepa just don't get it. The whole storyline was sprinked with references to Sholay, RD Burman, relationships, priorities in life (responsibility vs. dreams) to just name a few. These little fibers weaved together gave the story more strength than any other masala nonsense thats usually churned out by bollywood. This movie is as fresh as Dil Chahta Hai. In some ways, this movie reminds me of other light-hearted comedies by great bengali directors like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Basu Chatterji.
Ignore the review by Deepa and watch the movie. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
who ever has written this review needs to spend her time in a more worth while hobby/profession which better suits her sense of judgement. This was one movie which we(me and 6 of my roomies) cud sit thru without looking at our watch, and the quality of entertainment dished out by this movie was astronomical and futher enhanced bythe fact that we were watching this flick after watching another movie"Mein prem ki d h" the previous night which was nothing short of a night of trauma.
It was a great movie!!What the hell does this female think of herself! In The theatre where i saw the movie, the audience were laughing their guts out. They came out smiling! Its one of the better films of the year ... definately better than darna mana hai and all the other overtly hyped movies!!
One of the year's best Indian films so far. As an American Born, But Not Confused Desi living and working in Hollywood - I think this film was a classic.
Fantastic movie - Brilliant story/screenplay and superb editing. Original and not stolen from Hollywood.
The screenplay has all the elements of structure that even Hollywood screenwriters cannot pull off successfully (Discussion on Sholay as a set up and then Rishi hears "Yeh Dosti in the taxi", The flashbacks are done very very masterfully - and the comedy is fine).
The soundtrack is fantastic - Jab Khabhi, KK's voice is great and has become my favorite song - reminds me of Ali Azmat of Junoon, the electric guitar in the song is really a classic - says my American guitar teacher. The picturization of the song was great too and the words bring tears to my eyes.
This is not your average Bollywood Masala film. If you want women running around trees and wearing skimpy outfits in below freezing temperatures in the Alps (Deepa's type)- Don't watch this.
But if you want to watch a great film with refreshing characters, a marvelous original story, terrific music and talented director - You have to watch this film!!

Dont get me wrong. I loved the movie. However, there was one thing that I noticed that was stolen directly from a hollywood flick - Rinke giving a bj to Rahul and them meeting with an accident was stolen from a 'Parenthood' (Steve Martin). But this fit perfectly fine in the storyline. Better stealing these kinds of scenes than entire scripts from masala hollywood movies..
Its great to watch an upmarket, modern and young concept being screened in Bollywood.I live in London and the pseudo stigma about the condom theme coming from citizens of a sex crazy nation of 1 billion is deplorable. Its refreshing to see this light hearted comedy far away from home.Im sure my friends in Kolkata would agree.Kudos JB!!
Kudos to Pritish Nandy for having produced such different and intelligent movies. The movie is great and is a must see for all urban classes.People like Deepa would not be able to tell the difference btn "parinda" and "aunty no.1"
good lord......thank God i read ur review after i watched the movie...hey it was a wonderful movie...talking about censor board...how about the rest of the vulgarest stuff bolywood produces these days?????????????????????????...infact JB didnt have any vulgar scenes...ofcourse the movie was meant only for adults...good comedy....excellent acting ....everybody was fantastic...buck up guys...we need such kind of movies...loved sanjay and rahul...
