Marathi films... where are they?
by A film fanatic on Feb 13, 2005 09:54 PM

Promising young directors like Chetan Shetty and Sandip Chavan seem to be out of the industry.(none of their films have released in recent past) Their entry into the industry was seen as fresh blood coming in, but nothing came from them too. Marathi Film needs experienced directors and actors to bring their alive. Actors like Sachin Shetti ('Owaalni' fame) too failed to carry their work succesfully. Even after being nominated for Maharashtra Times 'Best Actor" award, today Sachin has no films in his kitty. So what does this marathi industry really looking out for. It is the older actors whom the people are bored of and they are the only ones who have most of work. Recent times saw some good films in Marathi like 'Shwaas' etc. but are we going to continue with it. Or maybe read that Sandip Sawant (director 'Shwaas" has no more films)

Marathi film industry in trouble
by Jayraj on Apr 18, 2004 09:32 PM

Though most of the points are on the track one tends to feel that in general the marathi movie makers, audience et. al. have lost the sense of pride in being a marathi to the core.
Every person, every religion, every caste & every creed in this universe should be respected but at the same time one should not disrespect the origin.
We are a young crowd into stage who want to do well for the marathi industry and would appreciate support & guidance from critics or eminent film personalities like amol palekar who are proud of their origin.
we believe success is not away if we have the conviction & vision.

subsidy by govt.
by Chetan Shetty on Oct 16, 2003 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

The Government gives subsidy to only those Banners under which atleast 1 film has been produced. This doesnot solve the problem because new producers purchase the banner from the other producer and make a film and then claim the 15,00,000 offered by the Govt. After they recieve the amount they sell the banner to some other producer.
According to me, the Government should financially help new producers as new directors are available in the market, whose subjects are of much higher standards that what is today present in the market.
Anyone supporting me, may contact me at
Chetan P. Shetty
B3/303, Gangadham, Market Yard, Pune. - Tel - (020)4272243. Email - chetan_shetty007@rediffmail.com.

I am one of those struggling directors who has a powerfull script and a person to take the gurantee of the film and the finance.
