My dear friend Swapneel,please do not jump to conclusions without knowing half facts.Here are some facts which will convince you that Meena Kumari is undoubtedly the best actress in the history of this planet:(I)Meena kumari won the filmfare award for Best Actress popular choice 5 times-Baiju Bawra(1953),Parineeta(1954),Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam(1960), Aarti(1961)and Kajal(1965).(II)When Nargis won the Filmfare Award for best Actress for Mother India,the Filmfare jury not happy with the popular decision awarded the best actress jury award to Meena Kumari for Kohinoor where Meena was paired opposite Raj Kapoor.(III)Meena Kumari was the only actress in the 1950's and 1960's who could carry a film on her shoulders, let alone sell a film on her name.During her time her competitors included cream actresses like Nutan,Nargis,Waheeda Rehman and vyjayantimala.(IV)Which actresses on this planet can give a super-duper hit like PAKEEZAH with third-stage liver cancer and high fever?(V)In 1953,1954 and 1960,she was the only actress who was nominated for the best actress awards.She received all the nominations in each of the 3 years, proving that she was the No.1 to No.10 actress of her times.
well..........the fact of the matter is today's actresses baring a few are all superficial beauty queens they lack hunanity and intelligence to play complicated and sensitive roles and ash wud certainly not pass-off as sensitive though she may look good(i think she is vain) and hard working and may dance well but big deal every one can look good and dance well i think sridevi,madhuri ,tabu or kajol shld do this role or maybe even manisha but manisha will b a perfect choice so rediff stop comming up with these stupid debates gimem a debate on the thrist world deficit or the global economy instead and pls do not publish any stuff on bipasha basu she is totally a media made star dumb and disgusting
Honestly speeking I have seen lot of Meenakumari's films And i don't feel she was a very good actress.So i feel Ash will not make good MeenaKumari,because she doesn't have to.
We can not compare two actress as along as they perform the different roles. If Ash want to copy a role of Meena Kumari then she would be best copy master! Let Ash perform in her own way. In the end ORIGINAL is ORIGINAL.
i agree that ash cant act ....she probably is one of the worst actress around and receives undue credit....but plz dont with an actress of another era ...in such cases ppl always go for the older generation as if they were the it all and end all of films , music and talent ....there are actors as good as any in each generation ....so no point in having such an debate
i think both meena kumari and aishwarya rai are entities in the film industry you cannot compare them on the basis of any common character like paro .both have got different styles of actin and screen presence .so aish had played paro as aish's way and meena kumari had played the role of paro in her own way .
