John Abraham - An actor in Indian cinema
by Ashok on Feb 27, 2004 04:03 AM

I was not a fan of John Abraham or that I under estimated him without watching a single movie. But after watching Saaya all I can say is finally an actor is on the rise in Indian cinema. I am sure he is going to reach heights. He did a very good job in Saaya and his dialogue delivery is also very good. Good luck John. The movie is well made though it is copied from hollywood. The story got something new to tell to its audiences and is a good attempt.

Saaya-One of the well-made movies

Read most reviews here. Of course, everyone is free to form opinions but frankly, apart from the good ol' movies, Bollywood has failed miserably to produce decent stuff esp in the recent years. Rightly said, most BWood movies are outright CORNY!! Rarely movies come which are worth watching and SAAYA is one, copy or no copy.. though I NEVER approved of this BWood trend of shameless CHEATING!! Even Hrithik, with his great caliber for acting (KNPH), is made to look like a total FOOL in MPKDH by Barjatya..That is the greatness of our Bwood Dirs..But SAAYA was a decently-made movie with Jhn Ab doing a SUPERB job for a newcomer and Basu doing a good job with him and the movie..let's give Jhn A some credit guys..I mean, I cannot even remotely visualize Roshan Jr or the Big Khans or anyone for that matter (except maybe Devgan or someone like that) doing such justice to the role..Sharma was mediocre but cute..Mahima and all the other characters WERE indeed good..Music was indeed delightful..Storyline, though copied and stereotypical, was delivered digestably..ALL in all, I thought the movie was above avg..GOOD even..atleast way better than most other run-of-the-mill fare by Bwood.

I think movie is not bad, but it is duplicate copy of "DRAGONFLY". There is no change for one seen. I guess I more enjoy "Dragonfly". I will encourage you guys to watch dragonfly. I am sure you will more injoy it. At the first stage I was shocked watching SAAYA cause it is unbelievable copy from dragonfly.

brilliant is the word whenit comes to describing j's performance.he made me want to believe in the super naturalsources and the extra terrestial element called love, with all his groovy looks he managed to look convincing and boy next door who has the potential to weep and feel helpless or moved by the presense of his love, his daughter.
he should get recognition for his performance .coz if he doesn't it willbe a shame on the industry.
good work john!

it was a good attempt unlike the other hollywood copies
by Suhasini on Jul 28, 2003 10:47 PM

The movie though was a copy of the hollywood movie, dragonfly. i was swept by the way they made the movie. though the pace of the movie was a bit slow, the music was too good. i generally dont appreciate the copies but couldnt remain appreciating the hindi make. The moment i finished watching the movie i said to myself, its beyond the mental reach of indian mass, OK ITS GOING TO FLOP. what if the movie flopped, it might have entertained a few who wants to see something different from the regular so called romantic movies.

I thought the Bhatts were a tribe of creative people! Why do they insist on copying plots from Hollywood movies when there are enough paranormal stories/incidents in India itself.Perhaps the Bhatts should take time off to read the "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramhansa Yoganand to get an idea on what happens after death.I also hope the Hollywood producers sue the pants off their Bollywood counterparts so that these copy cats look for something original! We will always be second rate if this is the attitude of our entertainment industry!
