Jism is a example...people who cant act should show there body....it then just becomes a cinematographic slide-show with lot os gizmos and money spent over it...what a waste.

Lets accept the fact that money makes everyone dance to its tune. In recent times, Bollywood stars have succumbed to this adage. One one end we have directors like Madhur Bhandarker and Kalpana Lajmi who tackle concepts like bar-girls and marital rape respectively, on the other hand we have Pooja Bhatt/Mahest Bhatt and the like that import half-baked concepts from the West and lend it some misplaced sense of legitimacy. While its important for actors to shed their inhibitions on screen so they can breathe life into their characters, there can be no place for sheer nudity in Indian movies. Films like Jism & Ek Chhotisi Love Story that are clearly plagiarized from Hollywood films (Double Indemnity, A Short Film About Love) have little to offer the Indian audience, besides titillation.
The directors that justify nudity on the pretext that its required simply because our actors/actresses have beautiful bodies are more jaded than they know. Bipasha Basu is hardly beautiful in Jism. She clearly looks like a retired model, and cant act to save her life. She can do little besides pout her lips and bat her eyelids. Our directors need to wake up and smell the roses. They need to tackle more serious and realistic themes. In the name of freedom of expression, the fabric of society should not be ripped apart.

Currently residing in the US, i think what MAtin Nazir said is as real as it can get. Bollywood has always been about "family" movies, but now it has succumbed to getting movies from abroad and making it their own, eventually misleading audiences to believe that vulgarity is required in the script of that movie. In my opinion a bit of Hollywood is good but to an extent. If it increases further on there might be one day when you "kids" won't be able to go for a decent movie. Hopefully that will not be the case in the near future.

Skin is out... literally

I agree to what Matin has to say.

We dont need to ape the West. I understand that people in bollywood need to give dose of sex to the masses but it can be done in a classy way. I recall Parinda in 1990.

Lets hope more creative people will be on the horizon soon and things will take interesting turn from there onwards.

Jism.. disgusting..

If people think that bringing vulgar western attitudes in bolloywood is going to enhance films then they are very wrong. WE would like our children to remain innocent and loving for as long as possible. There is no need to bring vulgarity and animalistic behaviour to our screens. The best thing about Indian movies is that most of them have got humour and are entertaining for the whole family. Lets not get into the after 9 movies.
